Voltas Ltd is a Tata Group company specialised in manufacturing air conditioners and other home appliances. It is also involved in providing project solutions. In its product portfolio the company has air coolers, air conditioners, refrigerators, and washing machines.
In its project solutions business, Voltas provide the mechanical, electrical and plumbing infrastructure of buildings, metro rail, data centres, and hospitals.
The company has a headquarters in Voltas House, Mumbai and is publicly listed on both the NSE and the BSE exchanges. The Tata Group holds around 30% of Voltas Ltd, through various subsidiaries, making it a promoter-backed company.
In 1954, Tata Sons partnered with Volkart Brothers, a Swiss trading company with strong roots in India’s textile industry. Voltas was incorporated on September 6, 1954, in Mumbai, India.
In its early years, Voltas focused on trading in engineering goods and industrial machinery. But the turning point in business came in 1960, when the company began manufacturing air conditioners under licence from Carrier Corporation.
Between the 1970s and the 1980s, Voltas expanded into electro-mechanical projects, taking its engineering capabilities to international markets.
The company earned a reputation for large-scale HVAC and MEP projects and become trusted engineering solutions provider.
Between 2000 and 2010, Voltas grew its market share in Room Air Conditioners and positioned itself as a top player.
In 2017, Voltas entered the home appliances market through a 50:50 joint venture with Arcelik, a Turkish company behind the Beko brand, called Voltbek Home Appliances. This partnership was designed to challenge global players like LG and Samsung in India.

Voltbek Home Appliances: In this segment, the company manufactures and sells refrigerators, washing machines, dishwashers, microwave and Air purifiers.
In FY24, Voltbek crossed a milestone of selling over 1 million units of refrigerators and washing machines. It is establishing itself as one of the fastest-growing home appliance brands in India.
Electro-Mechanical Projects and Services: This segment operates through a subsidiary, Universal MEP Projects and Engineering Services Limited.

Engineering Products and Services: This segment is divided into two subdivisions. One is the Mining and Construction Equipment and Textile Machinery Division.
Mining and Construction Equipment: Voltas is the authorised distributor for global OEM brands in India’s mining and construction equipment space.
Textile Machinery Division: Voltas represents global textile machine manufacturers in India, supporting the country’s textile and garments industry.
Revenue: Voltas Ltd reported consolidated revenue of ₹15,735.25 crore in FY25 vs ₹12,734.47 crore in FY24. It showed an increase of 23.57% on a yearly basis, reflecting robust growth.
Operating Profit: The company reported an operating profit of ₹1,190.75 crore in FY25 vs ₹485.80 crore in FY24. It showed an increase of 145% on a year-on-year basis, indicating that the company's operating profit is growing well.
Net Profit: Voltas Ltd reported a net profit of ₹834.28 crore in FY25 compared to ₹834.28 crore in FY24. It showed a jump of 236% on a yearly basis, indicating an improvement in overall performance.
