Gujarat Narmada Valley Fertilizers & Chemicals Limited (GNFC) is a leading player in the fertilisers and chemicals industry in India.
It was founded in 1976 and is headquartered in Bharuch, Gujarat. It is promoted by the Government of Gujarat and the Gujarat State Fertilizers & Chemicals Ltd (GSFC).
GNFC started its manufacturing and marketing services in 1982, establishing one of the world's largest single-stream ammonia-urea fertiliser complexes. Over the years, GNFC also started various projects in diverse fields such as chemicals, fertilisers and electronics.

GNFC business operations
Gujarat Narmada Valley Fertilizers & Chemicals Ltd has four business segments- fertilisers, chemicals, information technology and neem products. It’s a market leader in manufacturing and supply of fertilisers.
The company produces fertilisers like urea, ammonium nitro phosphate and calcium ammonium nitrate branded under NARMADA. GNFC also imports urea, diammonium phosphate (DAP) and muriate of potash (MOP). The production of GNFC's well-known fertilisers, Narmada Urea and Narmada Phos, takes place in an ultra-modern plant located in Bharuch. The production capacity is 636,900 metric tons of urea and 142,500 metric tons of NPK per year.
GNFC operates core chemical and petrochemical plants, producing items like methanol, formic acid, nitric acid, acetic acid and more. Its portfolio includes the production of methanol, formic acid, toluene di-isocyanate, technical grade urea, weak nitric acid, aniline, concentrated nitric acid, acetic acid, ethyl acetate and ammonium nitrate. GNFC is the only producer of acetic acid and one of the two producers of formic acid in India. GNFC's aniline plant is the largest single-stream facility in the country. It is also the only manufacturer of toluene di-isocyanate in Southeast Asia and the Indian subcontinent.
The company's Information Technology arm, (n)Code Solutions, is a major player in Internet security. With its state-of-the-art PKI (public key infrastructure) facility, it offers Digital Signature Certificates and an array of PKI-based solutions. The IT division of GNFC delivers a comprehensive suite of value-added services, including system integration, smart cities implementation, e-auction, e-procurement, Blockchain, education domain, e-governance, data centre and cloud services, along with CCTV Surveillance Systems
In the neem products segment, GNFC is the only company in India to use self-produced indigenous neem oil. It is also the only fertilizer company in India that produces neem pesticides (certified by GOPCA and ECOCERT) and neem cakes.
GNFC operates through 5 Area Offices situated in Mehsana, Rajkot, Bhavnagar, Vadodara, and Surat. The company has 49 fertilizer retail outlets (NKSKs) spread across Gujarat.
Among the many achievements in FY23, GNFC received a certificate of appreciation from CBIC, Ministry of Finance. The certificate was awarded to the company for promptly filing GST returns and making GST payments for the financial year 2022-23 under Maharashtra state GST registration.
