Why Isn't My Margin Being Updated After Pledging?

After successfully pledging your shares, the margin is usually available for trading within 5 minutes of receiving confirmation from CDSL (Central Depository Services Limited). However, if you are experiencing delays in margin getting updated, one or more of the following could be the reasons:


1. CDSL processing delay - The depository may take longer than usual to process and confirm your pledge request, especially during high-volume periods.


2. Technical issues - Temporary technical glitches during the pledging process can cause delays in margin getting reflected.


3. Pending verification - Your pledge request might be under verification by CDSL or the broker.


Checking your pledge request status


You can easily track the status of your pledge request through the Upstox app's transaction history,


1. Go to the pledge section and click on 'View History' to see all your pledge transactions.

2. Filter by Status Under the 'Status' tab, select 'In Progress' to view pending pledge requests for your specific stock.



3. ‘View Detailed Status’, the screen will display.

  • Current status of your pledge request
  • Expected completion time
  • Any pending actions required



Meanwhile,

  • Wait for 15-30 minutes as most delays resolve automatically within this timeframe.
  • Check transaction history and verify if your pledge is still ‘In Progress’ or has failed.
  • Refresh the app as sometimes, simply refreshing can update the margin display.
