About Molbio Diagnostics Limited

Molbio Diagnostics is an innovation-driven point-of-care (POC) diagnostics company that develops rapid, accurate and affordable diagnostic solutions for infectious as well as non-communicable diseases. Its flagship 'Truenat' platform is a portable, battery-operated PCR testing system that can be used even in resource-limited settings. As of March 31, 2026, the Truenat platform was protected by patents in more than 100 countries for diagnosing multiple infectious and non-communicable diseases.
As of March 31, 2026, the company offered molecular diagnostic solutions for 30 diseases through 43 assays. Its product portfolio covers major diseases such as tuberculosis (TB), COVID, Hepatitis B, Hepatitis C, Human Immunodeficiency Virus (HIV) and Human Papillomavirus (HPV).
The Truenat platform consists of two portable devices. The Trueprep system performs fully automated nucleic acid extraction, while the Truelab analyser carries out real-time PCR testing. The analyser is available in three variants: UnoDx, Duo and Quattro, which can process one, two and four samples simultaneously, respectively. As of March 31, 2026, the company had supplied more than 12,500 devices across over 90 countries, serving public health programmes, diagnostic laboratories and both private and public hospitals.
The company sold 2,524 devices in FY26, compared with 2,180 devices in FY25 and 2,011 devices in FY24. Out of the 2,524 devices sold during FY26, 2,184 devices were sold in India, while 340 devices were exported to international markets. Sales of Truenat test kits also witnessed strong growth, increasing to 1.76 crore in FY26 from 1.22 crore in FY25 and 88 lakhs in FY24. Similarly, out of 1.76 crore test kits sold during FY26, 1.62 crore were sold in India, and 13.6 lakhs were supplied to overseas markets.
Molbio Diagnostics operates six manufacturing facilities across India. Four facilities are operated directly by the company, including two in Goa, one in Bengaluru, Karnataka, and one in Visakhapatnam, Andhra Pradesh. In addition, its subsidiary Prognosys Medical Systems Private Limited and OptraScan India Private Limited operate facilities in Bengaluru and Pune, respectively. As of March 31, 2026, the company had an installed manufacturing capacity of 5,400 devices per annum and 39,000,000 Truenat test kits per annum. Capacity utilisation stood at 42.30% for devices and 58.25% for test kits in FY26.
In March 2023, the company acquired a 65.47% stake in Prognosys Medical Systems Private Limited and increased it further to 70% in April 2026. This new company offers digital imaging solutions, including radiology products under the "ProRad" brand. Further, in October 2024, the company entered into a stock purchase agreement to acquire a 60% stake in US-based OptraScan INC, which provides digital pathology solutions. The company has partnered with several organisations including Xcyton Diagnostics, Stellar Diagnostics, Testi Technologies, HealSeq, UE Lifesciences and HealSeq to broaden its diagnostic capabilities and accelerate product development.
The company's business continues to be driven by recurring sales of test kits. During FY26, revenue from test kits stood at ₹1,034.8 crore, contributing 73.9% of revenue from contracts with customers for finished goods, and revenue from device sales was ₹203.2 crore, accounting for 14.5% of revenue.
India is the largest market for the company, contributing 90.3% of FY26 revenue, while international markets accounted for 9.6% of revenue. Government bodies and international aid agencies continued to be the company's key customer segment, contributing 84.5%, 87.8% and 91.6% of revenue from contracts with customers for finished goods during FY26, FY25 and FY24, respectively.
The global point of care testing (POCT) market is valued at $29.3 billion (₹2,58,860 crore) and is projected to grow at a CAGR of 17.9% from 2025 to 2030 to reach $67.1 billion (₹ 5,92,820 crore) by 2030. Infectious diseases remain among the greatest challenges to health care globally. In 2023, they accounted for around 31.0% (1.94 crore) of all deaths globally. Diseases such as tuberculosis, hepatitis and HPV together killed almost 15 lakh people worldwide that’s more than 4,100 deaths each day.
The global shift from conventional smear-based TB testing to molecular diagnostics still represents a huge opportunity for growth. Around 15 to 20 crore smear tests are carried out each year worldwide, and many of these are expected to move to molecular testing over time. The top 30 countries with the highest TB burden account for 87% of the global tuberculosis burden. The top 8 countries account for ~2/3rd of the globally reported 1.07 crore new active TB cases in 2024.
The company’s Truenat TB platform is also the only rapid molecular TB test developed by an Indian company and one of only two such tests globally to receive WHO endorsement for the initial diagnosis of tuberculosis and detection of rifampicin resistance, giving the company a strong competitive advantage. It plans to further strengthen its product portfolio by developing 34 additional assays covering 22 diseases. These new assays are expected to enhance the utility of the Truenat platform and expand its addressable market. Also, the company aims to increase exports, particularly in regions where it already has a presence, such as Africa and Southeast Asia. In addition, it is working towards entering the United States and European Union markets and is in the process of registering the Truenat platform in several new countries.
Now, Molbio Diagnostics is launching its initial public offering (IPO), which consists of a fresh issue of ₹200 crore and an offer for sale of ₹740 crore. The total issue size of the IPO is ₹940 crore, and its shares will be listed on the NSE and BSE.
