How Are CNG Prices in Hyderabad Determined?
CNG prices in Hyderabad are determined based on the central government APM (Administered Price Mechanism) pricing and the international LNG (Liquefied Natural Gas) prices. In 2023, the Union Cabinet authorized a new revision in the formula for natural gas prices and set a ceiling price for CNG.

The APM gas is a crucial raw material for City Gas Distribution (CGD) and CNG and domestic Piped Natural Gas (PNG) account for around 60% of APM’s sales volume for CGD companies. Increased APM prices put pressure on these companies' profit margins, causing them to transfer the increased input costs to the end users.
Around November 2024, the government reduced the cheaper APM gas supply to CGD, forcing them to buy imported and higher-cost LNG. How is CNG Made?
CNG (Compressed Natural Gas) is produced by extracting natural gas from underground reservoirs using drilling techniques.
