Voltas Limited is a multinational company that makes and sells home appliances and provides engineering solutions. The company was formed on September 6, 1954, in Mumbai through a partnership between Tata Sons and the Switzerland-based Volkart Brothers. Voltas is one of India's largest air conditioning companies. It is among the top ten companies within the TATA group with a consolidated revenue of above a billion dollars.

Voltas Limited specialises in electro-mechanical projects and services, including electrical, mechanical and refrigeration solutions. It also engages in water management and treatment. Apart from manufacturing unitary cooling products such as air conditioners and commercial refrigeration units, the company offers specialised equipment and services in the mining and construction vertical.
Voltas Limited has made an impact across 14 different industries. With a vast network, it serves over 25,000 customer sites throughout India. Its products have served over 10 million households so far.
The company has solid manufacturing capabilities with four existing manufacturing locations. It has added two facilities in Gujarat’s Waghodia and Sanand in the last five years. Its manufacturing capacity stands at 5 lakh tons for commercial air conditioning and 2.7 million units for room air conditioners. At present, Voltas operates four top-tier manufacturing facilities. Among these, Pantnagar handles the production of room air conditioners and commercial refrigeration products. Waghodia specialises in commercial air conditioning while Sanand is dedicated to Voltas Beko for home appliances. The factory in Sanand has a remarkable production capacity of 1 million units.
Voltbek Home Appliances Private Limited (Voltbek) is a joint venture, equally shared between Voltas and Araelik - a major household appliance manufacturer in Europe. This partnership has empowered Voltas by tapping into Arçelik’s R&D capabilities and merging them with Voltas’ expansive distribution network. This has made Voltas Beko one of India's fastest-growing brands.
Under the Voltas Beko brand, more than 3.3 million units of home appliances including refrigerators, washing machines, microwaves, and dishwashers have been sold.
During the financial year 2022-23, the company finalised the Business Transfer Agreement (BTA) to transfer its B2B businesses. The agreement was signed with its wholly-owned subsidiary, Universal MEP Projects & Engineering Services Limited (UMPESL). UMPESL is a platform through which Voltas offers multiple engineering solutions.
Voltas Limited employed a workforce of 4,062 people as of March 31, 2023. The company has 9 subsidiaries, 4 joint ventures.
