The broader market traded higher on Monday, February 9, outperforming the main equity indices. During the intraday period, the Nifty Midcap 100 was up 1.4%, while the Nifty Smallcap 100 index surged 2.3%.
On a year-on-year basis, the Nifty Midcap 100 index has gained 12.5%, while the Nifty Smallcap 100 gauge rose 2%.
The Indian equity benchmark indices were trading higher in the afternoon session, with SENSEX jumping 440 points and NIFTY50 trading above the 25,850 level, amid optimism after a fresh India-US trade agreement, foreign fund inflows and a rally in Asian markets.
Opening at the 59,896.20 level, the NIFTY Midcap 100 index touched a high of the 60,371.75 level and a low of 59,767.55 during the intraday period on Monday.
Kalyan Jewellers was the most contributing stock on the index, as it soared as much as 12.26% on the NSE after the jewellery retailer reported an encouraging set of numbers for the quarter ended December 31, 2025 (Q3 FY26).
The jewellery firm had reported a 90.36% growth in consolidated net profit to ₹416.29 crore during Q3 FY26. The company's net profit stood at ₹218.68 crore during the corresponding quarter of the previous fiscal year. Revenue from operations of the company grew 42.11% during the quarter under review to ₹10,343.41 crore compared to ₹7,278.09 crore seen in the year-ago period.
Godrej Properties (6%), Voltas (4.69%), ITC Hotels (4.2%), Vodafone Idea (4.14%) and Fortis Healthcare (4.1%) were the other top gainers on the Nifty Midcap 100 index.
Shares of Vodafone Idea were trading higher after promoter Kumar Mangalam Birla bought 4.09 crore shares in the firm over the last week.
On the contrary, shares of Page Industries (-2.98%), SAIL (-1.61%), Oil India (-1.39%), NHPC (-1.06%) and Torrent Power (-0.99%) were seen lower.
Opening at the 17,082.55 level on Monday, the NIFTY Smallcap 100 index touched a high of the 17,338.95 level, which is 2.3% higher than its previous close. The index’s intraday low was at the 17,045.60 level.
PCBL Chemical was the biggest gainer, rising 9.51%, followed by Deepak Fertilisers and Petrochemicals Corporation (7.79%), IFCI (7.53%), BEML (7.44%) and Kaynes Technologies (6.54%).
Crompton Greaves Consumer Electricals (6.38%), Newgen Software Technologies (6.19%), Aditya Birla Real Estate (5.88%) and Aarti Industries (5.7%) were also trading higher.
Meanwhile, Five-Star Business Finance (-1.72%), HBL Engineering (-1.10%), Creditaccess Grameen (-1.04%), Zensar Technologies (-0.82%) and Affle 3i (0.66%) were the most losing stocks on the Nifty Smallcap 100 index.
