Jeevan Pramaan Patra 2023 - Download, Online, & How to Apply

Many people rely on pension savings as their main source of income after retiring. Others use it as a second source of income to cover their expenditures.
Submitting a Jeevan Pramaan Patra/Life Certificate to the pension funding agency is one of the essential documents to ensure a smooth flow of pension money each month. Do you want to learn more about how it ensures that pension funds are received continuously?

What is Jeevan Pramaan Patra?

A biometrics-enabled digital service for retirees is called Jeevan Pramaan. Pensioners from federal, state, or government agencies can use this service.
The pension payments made by various governmental entities serve as the main source of income and sustainability for more than one billion pensioner families in India. About 50 lakh retirees from the Central Government and a comparable amount from the various State & UT Governments and other government organizations. Pensioners from numerous public sector organizations are included in this. Additionally, the amount of Army and Defense Personnel receiving pension exceeds $25 lakhs.
One of the main requirements for retirees is to submit life certificates to the approved pension disbursing organizations, such as banks and post offices, for their pension to be credited to their account. The person receiving the pension must either personally go before the pension issuing agency to obtain the life certificate or have the life certificate granted by the authority they previously served and have it forwarded to the disbursing agency.
The simple requirement of personally appearing before the disbursing agency or obtaining a life certificate frequently proves to be a significant barrier to the pensioner's smooth distribution of pension funds. It has been noticed that this leads to significant hardship and unneeded bother, especially for elderly and disabled pensioners who frequently cannot appear before the relevant authority to obtain their life certificate. In addition, many government workers decide to relocate once they retire to be closer to their families or for other reasons. It creates a significant logistical challenge regarding receiving their full pension amount.
The Government of India's Jeevan Pramaan Digital Life Certificate for Pensioners Scheme aims to solve this issue by digitizing the entire life certificate acquisition process. It intends to simplify the certification procedure for pensioners, making it hassle-free and considerably more straightforward. This project will make it unnecessary for retirees to physically appear before the issuing agency or the certification authority, which would greatly benefit pensioners and reduce unnecessary administrative burdens.

What Is the Purpose of the Jeevan Pramaan Patra?

It gives the pension issuing agency instructions to keep providing pension funds for another year. The pension won't be paid to the person's account until the certificate is submitted. The certificate can be filed every year between October 1 and November 30. You must physically be present at the pension issuing office to receive this certificate. If not, you can request that the certificate be provided by the institution where you previously worked and have it delivered to the organization.

What is A Digital Life Certificate?

The person applying for a pension must be available at the pension issuing organization. Due to people's advanced age, obtaining a life-proof document can be a challenging phase of receiving a pension. Due to their health issues, they might not always be able to visit the issuing agency. Additionally, many retirees decide to move and establish themselves in another area for various reasons. As a result, it will be difficult for them to access their pension money easily.
The Digital Life Certificate (DLC) for Pensioners Scheme, also known as Jeevan Pramaan, is a result of the Indian government incorporating technology innovation. It will simplify and streamline retirees' life certificate application procedure by digitizing it. This program removes the logistical barriers for seniors by relaxing the requirement to be physically available at the pension payment office.

How Do Online Services Operate?

Here is how to receive your DLC step-by-step:

Obtaining DLC FirstStep 1: Get the "Jeevan Pramaan" mobile app or software for your Windows computer and Android smartphone, respectively.

NPS Vs PPF - Which is Better & Difference

Retirement can be the best or worst time of your life, depending on how well-prepared you are for it. On the one hand, you will have enough time on your hands to do whatever you want to do, without having to worry about work. On the other hand, you no longer have a regular income from work, which may mean not having the necessary money to meet all of your requirements. Add to that inflation and increasing life expectancy, which can continue for a long time. This is why retirement planning is so important. Unless you are eligible for a pension when you stop working (and sometimes even if you are), you will have to invest in retirement schemes to live out your golden years comfortably without stress. That’s why the government of India has made retirement savings possible through specific schemes they offer. The two most essential schemes among these are the [Public Provident Fund](https://upstox.com/saving-schemes/public-provident-fund-ppf-interest-rate/) or PPF and the National Pension Scheme or NPS. Moreover, these schemes come with tax benefits that make them more attractive to citizens. They are covered under Section 80C of the Income Tax Act, meaning you can claim a tax benefit of up to INR 1.5 lakhs by investing in either product. However, that’s where the similarity ends. They are very different in terms of tenure, returns, lock-in periods, and maturity amount usage. This article will explain the features of both these schemes and their similarities and differences in more detail.

Pension Fund Regulatory and Development Authority (PFRDA) - Full Form & Login

Life as a senior citizen is hard enough without the added trouble of a lack of financial security. Aging often reduces your value at the workplace since your body and mind slow down as you grow older. Bad health is almost guaranteed as you age with the lifestyles people live these days. Add to that the extremely high cost of health care these days, and you can be assured that you will struggle to survive without a regular income, which you won’t have when you retire. That’s why it is so important to have a solid retirement plan in place. The best way to do this is to invest in retirement and pension schemes while still working. Most governments also have pension schemes available to their employees and, more often than not, the general working public. In India, the British had already installed a pension system that was followed until recently. In 1999, the central government recognized that the old system might not work anymore. To examine this issue, it commissioned a project titled Old Age Social and Income Security, or OASIS. The project was to look at the policy related to old age income security in India and develop ideas to improve it. According to the suggestions in the report given by the OASIS, the government of India came up with a new Defined Contribution Pension system which replaced the old Defined Benefit Pension System that was in place. This new pension scheme eventually came to be called the [National Pension Scheme](https://upstox.com/saving-schemes/nps-national-pension-scheme-india/) or NPS. Later, in August 2003, a new regulatory body called PFRDA was also established to regulate and develop the pension sector in India.
