How do I transfer shares from Upstox to another NSDL demat account (Offline process) ?

If you wish to transfer shares from your Upstox Demat Account to another NSDL Demat Account, you will need to submit a Delivery Instruction Slip (DIS). The DIS must be duly filled out and signed by all account holders.

How to fill the DIS slip?

Please fill out the instruction slip as follows:


1. First/Sole Holder's Name: Enter the account holder's name exactly as it appears in the demat account.


2. Security Details: Provide the following details:

  • ISIN
  • Security Name
  • Quantity (in both figures and words)


3. Reason for Transfer: Specify the reason for transferring the shares.


4. Target Demat Account Details: Fill in the following details of the demat account receiving the shares:

  • Counter DP ID
  • Counter Client ID
  • Counter Client Name


5. Under Account Transfer - Outside CDSL (Inter-Depository), select the BO option.


6. Signature: The account holder's signature must match the signature available in Upstox's demat account records.


7. Supporting Documents: A self-attested copy of the target NSDL account's Client Master Report (CMR) must be submitted along with the DIS slip to process the transfer.


8. For Off-Market Sale Transfers: If the client selects "Other" and specifies the reason as off-market sale, we require the Off-Market Sale Annexure form along with the DIS slip.


9. Courier the Documents: Once the DIS slip has been completed and signed, please courier it to the following address:

Additional Notes:

  • Transferring shares from Upstox to another broker's demat account attracts charges of ₹20 + GST per ISIN.
  • There are no charges for transferring shares from another broker's demat account to Upstox.
  • Share transfers typically take a minimum of two business days to be completed after receiving DIS slip
  • Once your DIS slip is accepted for processing, you will receive an SMS and email from CDSL containing a link for OTP authentication. To avoid rejection of your request, complete the authentication by 8:00 PM on the same day.
  • If your transfer request is rejected, you will need to fill out a new DIS slip and courier it again.
