Vodafone Idea Limited, rebranded as Vi, is a leading mobile network operator. The company operates as an integrated GSM provider. It offers a range of services, including 2G, 4G, LTE Advanced, VoLTE, 5G and VoWiFi.

It has a subscriber base of 21.98 crore as of September 30, 2023. Vi is the third-largest mobile telecommunications network operator in India and the eleventh-largest globally. The merger of Vodafone India and Idea Cellular in 2018 led to the formation of Vodafone Idea Limited, which subsequently rebranded as Vi in 2020.

Vodafone Group and Aditya Birla Group are two promoters of Vodafone Idea Limited. They collectively own a 50.4% stake in the company, followed by the government of India’s stake of 33.1%.

The company draws more than 50% of its revenue from international operations spread across 36 countries.

Vodafone Idea Ltd. delivers voice services across all 22 service areas. It caters to more than 120 crore people in over 4,87,000 towns and villages. It also provides 4G VoLTE services throughout these areas. In the broadband services vertical, Vodafone Idea provides 3G and/or 4G broadband across all 22 service areas in India. The company's broadband coverage extends to over 3,41,600 towns and villages.

Vodafone Idea has a total spectrum reserve of 8,005.2 MHz. Among these, 7,975.2 MHz is liberalised and adaptable for deployment across diverse technologies. This spectrum includes the mid-band 5G spectrum (3300 MHz band) in 17 priority circles and the mmWave 5G spectrum (26 GHz band) in 16 circles.

The company's network includes extensive infrastructure comprising 2G, 3G and 4G equipment, alongside a nationwide optical fibre cable (OFC) network. The 4G network of Vodafone Idea Ltd. covers a population of over 1 billion Indians.

Vodafone Idea Limited caters to individuals and business enterprises under its digital services segment. The company delivers content through its Vi Movies & TV app. It has collaborations with various OTT apps. The Vi app offers over 400 Live TV channels in HD and SD formats. It has a collection of over 10,000 movies, TV shows and short-format videos in over 16 Indian languages. Financial highlights

Consolidated revenue for the financial year 2022-23 stood at ₹42,177 crore, up 9.5% from ₹38,515 crore in FY22. The company reported a loss of ₹29,301 crore in the financial year 2022-23 as against ₹28,246 crore loss in FY22. The total income of the company in FY23 stood at ₹42,488 crore compared to ₹38,644 crore in FY22. The EBIT (earnings before interest and taxes) was ₹ (- 5,943) crore in FY23. The company made a total capital expenditure of ₹48,432 crore in FY23. Its earnings per share (EPS) was negative at ₹(-8.43) in FY23.
