Suzlon Group is a leading renewable energy solutions provider. Headquartered in Pune, the company has a presence in 17 countries across Asia, Australia, Europe, Africa and the Americas. Suzlon’s products are designed to ensure optimum performance, higher yields and maximum return on investment for the clients.

Mechanical engineer Tulsi Tanti founded the company in 1995 with the idea of giving customers a complete package of wind energy services. After its establishment, Suzlon Energy slowly started gaining prominence as a provider of wind energy solutions. The company established a technical collaboration with German wind energy leader Südwind Energy GmbH to strengthen and build its expertise in designing Wind Turbine Generators (WTGs). This helped Suzlon set up WTGs across India from 1995 to 2000.

The company has become a global leader in the renewable energy sector, with a cumulative installed capacity of over 19 GW.

The Suzlon Group includes Suzlon Energy Limited and its many subsidiaries. The Group's expansion strategy revolves around sustainable development. Suzlon is a big player in solar power alongside wind energy, aiming to provide combined wind-solar solutions. Its worldwide wind installations contribute to a reduction of over 52.1 million tonnes of CO2 emissions annually.

Suzlon Energy business operations

Suzlon Group has 14 manufacturing across India. The company has a workforce of nearly 6,000 employees.

In India, Suzlon holds a dominant position with over 111 wind farms with an installed capacity exceeding 14,330 MW. It has developed some of Asia's largest operational onshore wind farms across nine states such as Gujarat, Rajasthan, Maharashtra and Tamil Nadu. The group serves a wide-ranging clientele, including power utilities and electricity producers from both private and public sectors.

The company's products and services encompass wind turbines, solar energy solutions, project development, project financing, and operation and maintenance (O&M).

Wind turbines

Suzlon develops and manufactures wind turbines with capacities ranging from 2 MW to 6.4 MW. The company’s new 3MW wind turbine has been well received and bagged big orders.

Solar Energy Solutions

Suzlon forayed into the solar energy sector in 2016 and has successfully installed and commissioned projects of a cumulative 340 MW across various states. Suzlon offers complete turnkey solutions for solar, wind and hybrid projects.

O&M services

Suzlon provides comprehensive operation and maintenance (O&M) services for wind energy projects, ensuring optimal performance and maximising energy yield.

Project development

The company is also engaged in project development, including site selection, feasibility studies, permitting, and construction.

Suzlon offers innovative financing solutions to help customers access capital for their wind energy projects.

Financial highlights

FY 2022-23 was a remarkable period for Suzlon Energy since the company reported significant improvement in most of the financial parameters.

Revenue stood at ₹5,947 crore in FY23 compared to ₹6,520 crore in FY22 EBITDA (earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation, and amortisation) ₹832 crore in FY23 against ₹889 crore a year ago. The company’s net profit stood at ₹2,887 crore in FY23 as against ₹177 crore loss in the preceding fiscal. The company reported cumulative orders of 1,542 MW as of May 30, 2023, marking the highest since 2019.
Net debt reduced by 80% to ₹1,180 crore in FY23 compared to ₹5,796 crore in FY22. Net worth positive after a decade at ₹1,099 crore.
