Pradhan Mantri Suraksha Bima Yojana (PMSBY) Scheme 2023

Accidents are possibly the most tragic catastrophe that can occur to a family. It is unfortunate to happen to any family member, but more so to the breadwinners. If something serious happens to the breadwinners, then the entire family suffers. And, in case of an absence of apt insurance, the consequences can be dire! Hence, it is imperative that at least the breadwinner is insured against any accident.
It is not that difficult for the middle and upper classes to afford apt insurance. However, poor people tend to find it difficult to spare a substantial amount for their insurance. And the irony is that it is them who need the insurance most. Most middle-class and affluent families have savings that can take care of them during a crisis, but the poor have little to no financial security.

Pradhan Mantri Suraksha Bima Yojana

With that bitter truth as a premise, the Indian Government intended to bring the huge uninsured population of India under insurance coverage. Subsequently, Shri Narendra Modi, the honorable prime minister of India, launched PMSBY, a personal accident insurance scheme, on 9th May 2015 from Kolkata, West Bengal. The full form of PMSBY is Pradhan Mantri Suraksha Bima Yojana, and it fills the gap in the market apropos to affordability. Though the insurance is primarily targeted at the poor section of society, it is available to all adult Indian citizens with operational bank accounts.
In the year 2020 alone, 3,66,138 road accidents occurred in India. These accidents caused 1,31,714 deaths and injuries to as many as 3,48,279 people. Pradhan Mantri Bima Yojana aids financial assistance to the injured policyholder and the deceased's family members (in case of the death of a policyholder).

What is Form 13 - Transfer of EPF Account & How to Fill/Download it Online

When paying the payee, the deductor/payer deducts tax. And the deductee/payee asserts this when filing an ITR using Form 26AS. Sometimes a payee's overall tax obligation is less than the TDS taken from his income. Additionally, he doesn't want to wait until the end of the year to request a tax refund that was withheld. In these circumstances, the payee may submit a Form 13 request to his Assessing Officer for a non-deduction or lower tax deduction following Section 197. (AO). For each fiscal year, a separate Form 13 must be filed. The deductor must also get the equivalent compensation for lesser or non-deduction of TDS/TCS.

EPF Balance India & How to Check it Online via Mobile Number & SMS

It is no secret that the Employee Provident Fund, or EPF, plays an extremely important role in an employee's financial life. It acts like an effective retirement fund supported by equal monthly contributions from the employee and the company. To keep track of the long-term contributions from both parties, a digital [EPF member passbook](https://upstox.com/saving-schemes/epfo-passbook-download/) is usually made available to every employee who is an EPFO member, wherein the EPF balance placed into the account is shown. Employee Provident Fund (EPF) contributions generally comprise 12% of an employee's gross income plus a matching amount from the employer. While taxes are not applied to the employer's EPF contribution, the employee can benefit from a tax deduction for contributions made to the EPF under Section 80C of the Income Tax Act. In other words, from an employee's perspective, payments to the EPF, interest that accrues on the PF balance, and withdrawals of money after the requisite specified duration (5 years) are all completely tax-free. When the employees retire, they get a tax-free lump payment from the Employee Provident Fund, which, as expected, includes the full contribution from both the company and the employee (EPFO), wherein the organisation determines the fixed annual interest rate. When calculating the interest accrued to the EPF account, the account's balance comes into play. While the annual percentage rate used to compute interest is 8.75%, every year on April 1st, the interest is computed on the total amount in the EPF account. All employees must be aware that although EPF withdrawals occur regularly, interest is determined annually. Therefore, it becomes much more important to regularly conduct your PF Balance check, especially at the start of the year.

NPS Tier 1 Account - Tax Benefit, Scheme, & How to Withdraw Online

The National Pension Scheme is one of India's most popular retirement planning instruments. The National Pension System Trust (NPS Trust) manages the scheme. The NPS Trust is a division of the PFRDA, or Pension Fund Regulatory and Development Authority. The PFRDA comes under the Indian Ministry of Finance’s jurisdiction. The PFRDA formed the NPS Trust according to the Indian Trusts Act of 1992’s provisions. The NPS Trust monitors the activities of various NPS intermediaries, such as Pension Funds, Custodians, Central Recordkeeping agencies (CRA), Trustee Banks, Aggregators, Points of Presence, and Annuity Service Providers (ASPs). The Trust also coordinates with Pension Funds (PFs) to ensure that the subscribers’ interests are supreme. A quick scan of NPS subscription status proves that more and more investors are reposing their faith in this government-backed pension scheme for the masses. For instance, the total number of subscribers was 1,57,44,183 in FY 21-22, as against 1,43,90,544 in FY 20-21 and 1,34,12,640 in FY 19-20. Similarly, the total AUM (Asset Under Management) of NPS was 7,15,670 in FY 21-22, as against 5,62,338.33 in FY 20-21 and 4,06,952.62 in FY 19-20. Unlike EPF, or Employees Provident Fund, NPS is not mandatory; instead, it is voluntary. The fund aims to create a sizable corpus for investors after their retirement. NPS accounts are of two types - Tier-1 accounts and Tier-2 accounts. This article elaborates on the definition and scope of NPS Tier-1, withdrawal limits, tax benefits, and the like.
