Bengaluru-headquartered Infosys is a global leader in next-generation digital services and consulting. It is the second largest Indian IT company by revenue with operations in many countries. The company offers a wide range of services including IT solutions, business consulting, outsourcing and digital marketing.

The company has clients in more than 56 countries and has an employee base of more than 3,43,200. The IT giant is one of the major private employers in India.

It is one the largest private sector employers in India with more than 3.43 lakh employees and it offers services to clients across 56 countries.

Renowned entrepreneur N R Narayana Murthy along with six other partners established Infosys in 1981 and the company’s first client was US-based Data Basics Corporation. The company has grown to become one of the largest valued entities in the IT sector in India with a market capitalisation of more than ₹6.12 lakh crore, as of December 12, 2023. The stock price has gained more than 27% in the last three years.

Infosys has emerged as a leading player helping the clients in their digital transformation as well as cost efficiency and automation programmes. The company deploys generative artificial intelligence (AI) to enhance capabilities for clients. The technology offerings of Infosys include TopazTM and platforms, including Finacle for banks, McCamish for insurance, Equinox for commerce and Helix for healthcare.

Under its digital services the company caters to a wide range of clients across sectors. Infosys helps businesses in digital transformation to enhance customer experience, leverage AI-based analytics and big data, engineer digital products and IoT, modernise legacy technology systems, migrate to cloud applications and implementation of advanced cybersecurity systems.

Core services

Core services of the company primarily include application management services, proprietary application development, independent validation solutions, product engineering, infrastructure management, traditional enterprise application implementation, and integration services.

Products and platforms

Infosys generates revenue from sale of multiple products and platforms like Finacle, Edge Suite of products, Panaya platform, Infosys Equinox, Infosys Helix, Infosys Applied AI, Infosys Cortex, Stater digital platform and Infosys McCamish insurance platform.

The key business verticals of the company include financial service, manufacturing, retail and consumer packaged goods, healthcare and life sciences, technology solutions for media, energy and utilities. The company also caters to government entities, defence sector organisations and educational institutions.

Apart from these, the company’s dedicated division on emerging technologies focuses on AI, blockchain and robotics. Infosys also has a business process management (BPM) division to optimise internal processes for clients.

Financial highlights

Infosys recorded a double digit growth in revenue and operating profit in FY23.

In FY23, the company’s revenue stood at ₹1,46,767 crore, up 20.7% year-on-year compared to ₹1,21,641 crore in FY22. Its operating profit grew 10.3% to ₹30,905 crore in FY23 as against ₹28,015 crore in FY22. The company’s operating margin dropped 1.9% to 21.1% YoY in FY23 compared to 23% in the preceding financial year. The company’s net profit increased 9% to ₹24,095 crore in FY23 as against ₹22,110 crore in FY22. Its earnings per share (EPS) stood at ₹57.63 in FY23 compared to ₹52.52 in FY22. The company paid a total dividend of ₹34 per share for FY23, a 9.7% increase over FY22. The company announced a total dividend of approx. ₹14,200 crore for FY23.
