Arvind Limited

Arvind Limited, earlier known as Arvind Mills, is an Indian conglomerate primarily known for its textiles. Founded in 1931, it is headquartered in Naroda, Ahmedabad. The beginnings of the company go back to 1897 when Lalbhai Dalpatbhai set up his first mill, the Saraspur Manufacturing Company.

Business operations

Arvind Ltd specialises in producing ultra-fine fabrics. Its business divisions encompass denim, woven fabrics, knit fabrics, garment exports and advanced materials. These materials cater to expanding industrial sectors such as personal protection, industrial filtration, wind energy, defence, auto components, transportation, housing and infrastructure. Additionally, the company is involved in textiles, brands and retail.

Arvind Ltd holds 22 global patents for environmental solutions and is the country's leading producer of fire protection fabrics. Its product brands are Flying Machine, Colt, Ruggers and Excalibur. Famous licenced brands include Arrow, Gant, Izod, Elle, Cherokee and US Polo Assn.

In India, it collaborates through joint ventures with global giants like Tommy Hilfiger and GAP. Among its retail offerings are Megamart, The Arvind Store, Club America, Next and Debenhams. Primarily, the company focuses on manufacturing and marketing denim fabric, shirting fabric, shirts, knitted fabric and garments.

Arvind Ltd's production facilities are located in Ahmedabad, Mehsana, Gandhinagar in Gujarat, Pune in Maharashtra and Bengaluru in Karnataka.

Arvind Fashions, a Lalbhai Group company, also oversees global apparel brands such as Tommy Hilfiger, US Polo Assn, Calvin Klein, Arrow and Flying Machine. The company employs 42,000 people across various sectors, spanning from retail to advanced materials.

Arvind Limited operates 15 manufacturing facilities and five research and development centres. The material cost amounts to ₹4,010.74 crore.

Also in 2016, Arvind Limited unveiled, a comprehensive online destination catering to trendsetters nationwide.

In 2017, Arvind introduced its ready-to-wear brand. By November 2017, Arvind Ltd announced plans for the demerger and public listing of its branded apparel division (Arvind Fashions) and its engineering segment (Anup Engineering).

The year 2018 witnessed a collaboration between Adient, a global company in automotive seating, and Arvind Limited. Together, they announced the establishment of Adient Arvind Automotive Fabrics—a joint venture aimed at developing, manufacturing and marketing automotive fabrics specifically within India.

Financial Highlights

  • The company recorded a PAT (profit after tax) of ₹408 crore in FY23 against ₹265 crore in FY22.
