ICICI Bank Limited is the second largest commercial bank in India. The bank provides a host of banking and financial services including savings, deposits, loans, credit cards, insurance, mutual funds and money transfer.
The Industrial Credit and Investment Corporation of India (ICICI) was established in 1955. ICICI Bank Limited was incorporated in 1994 as a part of the ICICI Group under the name ICICI Banking Corporation Limited and ICICI held a 75% stake in the bank. In 1999, ICICI Banking Corporation was renamed ICICI Bank Limited.
ICICI's ownership stake in ICICI Bank was reduced to 46% after a public offering of shares in India in 1998. This was followed by an equity offering in the form of American depository receipts on the NYSE in 2000. ICICI Bank completed an all-stock acquisition of the Bank of Madura Limited in 2001. ICICI became the first Indian company and the first bank from non-Japan Asia to be listed on the NYSE in 1999.
The company’s market capitalisation stood at nearly ₹7.25 lakh crore as of December 14, 2023. ICICI Bank shares have surged over 96% in the last three years. ICICI Bank stock is listed on the National Stock Exchange and BSE as well as on the New York Stock Exchange in the United States.
ICICI Bank business operations
ICICI Bank has 16,967 ATM/CRM locations across India, ensuring easy access to an ICICI Bank ATM for its customers. The bank operates 6,004 branches throughout the country.
ICICI also has subsidiaries in Canada and the United Kingdom, along with branches in Bahrain, China, Dubai International Finance Centre, Hong Kong, Singapore, Sri Lanka and the United States. It has representative offices in Bangladesh, Indonesia, Malaysia and the United Arab Emirates (UAE). ICICI Bank UK Plc has seven branches in the UK and one in Germany.
ICICI Bank offers its services to all segments of customers, including retail, corporate, SMEs and NRIs through its subsidiaries.

ICICI Prudential AMC & Trust:
This subsidiary of the bank offers mutual funds and asset management services.
ICICI Venture:
It’s a leading player in the venture capital and private equity segments. This arm of ICICI Bank caters to startups and businesses with investment solutions.
ICICI Direct:
Aids investors with access to stocks, derivatives, and mutual funds through its online trading platform.
ICICI Home Finance Company:
ICICI Home Finance provides different products and services related to home mortgages and home loans. It also offers competitive rates and customised financing solutions for the real estate sector.
ICICI Investment Management:
ICICI Investment Management offers diverse portfolio management services for retail investors, high-net-worth individuals and enterprises.
Financial highlights
• Profit after tax (PAT) grew 36.66% year-on-year to ₹31,896 crore in FY23 compared to ₹23,339 crore in FY22. • Operating profit amounted to ₹424.73 crore in FY23 as against ₹38,347 crore in FY22. • Total deposits increased to ₹11,80,841 crore in FY23 compared to ₹10,64,572 crore in FY22. • Total advances amounted to ₹10,19,638 crore in FY23 as against ₹8,59,020 crore in the preceding fiscal • The Net interest income (NII) stood at ₹62,129 crore in FY23 as against ₹47,466 crore in FY22. • The value of standalone assets increased to ₹15,84,207 crore in FY23 compared to ₹14,11,298 crore in FY22.
