Business operations

The company’s operations can be broadly divided into three segments – sugar, cogeneration and distillery.

Sugar: The sugar business accounted for 71% of the revenue in FY23. Dwarikesh Sugar has a combined cane-crushing capacity of 21,500 tonnes per day as of March 31, 2023.

The company crushed 382.13 lakh quintals of cane in 2022-23 compared to 373.92 lakh quintals of cane in the previous year. This resulted in total sugar production of 32.98 lakh quintals in FY23, generating sugar revenue of ₹2,080 crore.

Distillery: The distillery business made up 18% of Dwarikesh Sugar’s overall revenue in FY23. The company commissioned a 175 kilo litres per day distillery, dedicated to ethanol manufacturing, at its Bareilly plant in FY23. Besides that, Dwarikesh Sugar operates a distillery at its Bijnor plant. Besides industrial alcohol, it has also started manufacturing sanitizer from its product spirit.

Power: The power segment contributed 11% to Dwarikesh Sugar’s revenue in FY23. The company ventured into cogeneration when it commissioned a 6 MW power plant in 1995 using the byproduct bagasse. In 2002, the company grew this capacity to 9 MW and the cumulative cogeneration capacity was 96 megawatts as of March 31, 2023.
