Amara Raja Energy & Mobility Limited (formerly known as Amara Raja Batteries Limited) is the flagship of Amara Raja Group. It was founded in February 1985 as a Private Limited Company. The company is a leading manufacturer of lead acid batteries, producing batteries for both industrial and automotive applications.

Amara Raja Group is a diversified conglomerate with operations spanning across verticals like the production of lead-acid batteries (AMARON brand), power conversion products, sheet metal products, precision components, electronic products, infrastructure development, industrial services, food processing , media and entertainment.

The company became a public limited entity in 1990. In May 1992, a battery manufacturing facility was designed and established in India by the company.

The year 2009 marks a breakthrough phase as the company tied up with car maker Maruti Suzuki India for retailing Amaron MGB (Maruti Genuine Battery) through Maruti Authorised service centres. In the same year, the company signed up with Tata International for the export of automotive batteries under the Amaron brand in African markets. This marked a huge step in global expansion.

Over the years, Amara Raja Energy & Mobility Ltd has been the major and preferred supplier throughout India offering Li-ion cells, battery packs, and charging solutions for Light Electric Vehicles and the telecom industry.

Amara Raja Energy & Mobility Limited’s clients are reputable original equipment manufacturers like Maruti Suzuki India Limited, Hyundai Motors India Limited, Ford India Limited, Tata Motors Limited, and many more.

The Company's Industrial and Automotive batteries are exported to 50 countries globally. The battery plants that contribute to the company’s growing volumes are located at Karakambadi and Amara Raja Growth Corridor(ARGC) in Chittoor District, Andhra Pradesh. The Karakambadi manufacturing facility has three plants (4 Wheeler, 2 Wheeler, and LVRLA). The ARGC facility consists of four plants which include 4 Wheeler, 2 Wheeler, Tubular and MVRLA.

The manufacturing facilities of Amara Raja Energy & Mobility Limited are equipped with state-of-the-art machines and technology. Each plant is set up to make the production process more efficient by using well-known global standards like Lean Six Sigma and 5S principles. The company has also introduced automation in the manufacturing facilities to lessen worker tiredness, leading to better product quality and increased productivity.

Financial Highlights

The company’s consolidated revenue in FY23 surged to ₹10,388.20 crore as against ₹8,697.15 crore in FY22. The profit after tax (PAT) increased to ₹694.53 crore in FY23 compared to ₹512.57 crore in FY22. The company’s EBITDA (earnings before interest, tax, depreciation, and amortisation) increased to ₹1,389 crores in FY23 as against ₹1,091 crore in FY22. Its earnings per share (EPS) stood at ₹40.65 per share in FY23 compared to ₹29.93 per share in FY22.
