Jubilant FoodWorks Ltd. (JUBLFOOD) conducted a meeting with its Board of Directors on 2nd February 2022. As per this meeting, it has declared to the Exchange a stock split in the ratio of 5:1 i.e. for every 1 share you hold of JUBLFOOD you’ll now hold 5 shares in your Demat account.

The record date for the purpose of determining shareholders who will be applicable for this is 20th April 2022.

What is a stock split?
It’s a corporate action where a company divides its existing shares into multiple new shares in order to increase the stock's liquidity. In other words, get more people to invest in the company at its true value.

How does this corporate action impact Futures & Options Contracts?

Impact on Futures Contract: 

• The adjusted futures price shall be arrived at by dividing the old futures price by the adjustment factor. 
• The adjusted market lot shall be arrived at by multiplying the old market lot by the adjustment factor. The revised market lot would be 625.

Impact on Options Contract: 

• The adjusted strike price shall be arrived at by dividing the old strike price by the adjustment factor.
• The adjusted market lot shall be arrived at by multiplying the old market lot by the adjustment factor. The revised market lot would be 625.

The adjustment factor for the stock split of JUBLFOOD is (5/1) = 5, since the split ratio is 5:1.

For all positions taken before 19th April 2022,  you may see a slight deviation in the carried forward (c/f) average price of JUBLFOOD due to the corporate action mentioned above.

Thursday, 14th April 2022, is a trading holiday on account of  Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar Jayanti/ Mahavir Jayanti. Friday, 15th April 2022, is also a trading holiday on account of Good Friday. As a result of these two holidays, keep the following in mind:

• Trading will be closed on 14th and 15th April 2022, and will resume on Monday, 18th April 2022.

• However, MCX will be open for trading on 14th April for the second session from 5:00 PM to 11:30 PM.

• Due to 14th and 15th April 2022, being bank holidays as well, any fund withdrawal request placed after 8:00 AM on 13th April 2022, will be processed on 16th April 2022, i.e. Saturday.

• The credit bill amount for equity segments on 13th April 2022, will not be available for trading or withdrawal purposes until 19th April 2022.

• The credit bill for F&O segments on 13th April 2022, will not be available for trading or withdrawal purposes until 18th April 2022.

• The credit bill for MCX segments on 13th April 2022, will not be available for trading or withdrawal purposes until 18th April 2022.

As per SEBI’s latest circular, the deadline for discontinuing common fund wallet (pool account) for Stocks and Mutual Funds transactions has been extended from 1st April 2022 to 1st July 2022.

What does this mean?
Currently, you can invest in a Mutual Fund via funds from your Upstox account. And on redemption/sale of units the funds would be credited to your Upstox account from where you could place a withdrawal request. However, from 1st July 2022 funds for buying/selling Mutual Fund units will be deducted/credited directly from/into your registered bank account.

Due to the above extension, the scheduled maintenance activity from 31st March to 1st April 2022 has now been stopped. And you can continue to place Mutual Funds orders from our platform like before.

1st April 2022 is a settlement holiday on account of the new Financial Year. Due to this, all Equity trades placed on 31st March & 1st April 2022 will reflect in your account on 5th April 2022.

What’s a settlement holiday?
Settlement holidays are when markets are open but settlement of your trades do not take place as per the usual T+2 cycle because either the depositaries (NSDL and CDSL) are closed or banks are closed on that day.

How does this holiday impact your trades?
Since the settlement date denotes the final transfer of ownership of shares and not the day you made the trade, a holiday in between causes a delay in the final transfer of shares.

What will be the impact of the settlement holiday on 1st April 2022?
On account of the settlement holiday on 1st April 2022, note the following impact:

1. All trades placed on 31st March and 1st April in the Equity segment will be settled on Tuesday, 5th April 
2. All trades placed on 31st March in the Derivative segment will be settled on 4th April
3. All shares bought on 31st March will be visible under T1 holdings on the 1st April but you will only be able to sell them on 4th April.
4. The credit bill amount for all segments on 31st March will not be available for trading or withdrawal purposes on 1st April because this amount will be blocked for one day due to the settlement holiday.
