Kohinoor Foods Limited is a rice milling company that is one of India’s most well-known food grains and assortment brands. The company operates in the agro-processing market. It offers a range of products including basmati rice, ready-to-eat meals, cook-in sauces, cooking pastes, spices, seasonings and frozen foods.

Kohinoor Foods Limited was established in 1989 under the name Satnam Overseas Limited. In 1995, it introduced branded pulses, followed by the launch of tea bags branded as Viceroy in 1997. The company ventured into rice exports through partnerships in 1998. Satnam Overseas collaborated with Amazon.com for the rice trade in 2004. The company expanded its operations by establishing a frozen food processing facility in Bahalgarh, Haryana, in 2006. The company underwent a name change in 2007 and became known as Kohinoor Foods Limited.

Business operations

Kohinoor Foods started as a rice brand and now serves various food-related products to its customers. The company has retail chains in 28 states and all the Union Territories of India. It is also one of the most preferred choices in over 65 countries.

Kohinoor Foods caters to customers globally, spanning the USA, UAE, Canada, Australia, Middle East, Singapore, Japan, Mauritius and various European nations. The company's products are found on the shelves of well-known retail chains such as Booker Cash n Carry, TESCO, Sainsbury’s, ASDA and Morrisons in the UK and Krogers, Costco, BJs and Whole Foods in the US. In Canada, its partner retail chain is Walmart and in Japan, it is Kobe Bussan.

Kohinoor has a rice plant in Haryana’s Murthal with a production capacity of 1000 metric tons per day. It also acts as a storage facility for rice and paddy, with a capacity of 20,000 metric tons and 50,000 metric tons of paddy.

The company also runs Kohinoor Food Facility in Sonipat, Haryana. Spanning over 6,000 square meters, the facility has a total area of 1.5 acres, with a dedicated processing area of 32,000 square feet. The facility has a production capacity of 80,000 meals per day.

Kohinoor Foods is also slowly expanding its business operations in the ready-to-eat market and strengthening its export model. Kohinoor Foods has a contract with 8 farmer groups in India for organic basmati rice production. Rice production in just 110 hectares of land for Kohinoor Foods has grown to around 750 hectares since 2005. So, the company's operations are widely expanding in the rice and food assortment sectors.
