Bank of India (BOI) is a public sector bank, headquartered in BKC, Mumbai. The bank was founded in 1906 as a private bank. Later, the bank was nationalised, becoming a government-owned bank in 1969.
The Bank of India has more than 5300 branches and specialised branches across India, spread over all states and union territories. BOI branches are managed through 69 Zonal Offices and 13 FGMO offices. The bank has multiple branches overseas as well.
The Bank of India launched its IPO and went public in 1997, issuing 15 crore equity shares and raising around ₹675 crore. The bank is now listed on BSE and NSE under the ticker symbols 532149 and BANKINDIA, respectively.
The Bank of India was founded on 7 September 1906 by a group of individuals based in Mumbai, India. Initially, the bank was established as a privately owned and controlled bank. On 19 July, 1969, the Bank of India, along with 13 other banks, were nationalised and was owned and controlled by the Government of India.
The Bank of India started with one office in Mumbai and around 50 employees, and rapidly grew over the following years. BOI now has 5,300+ branches in India, 69 Zonal offices, and 8 domestic and international subsidiaries.

The bank serves individuals and MSMEs having a maximum exposure of up to ₹5 crores and provides services such as savings and current accounts, mortgages, home loans, personal loans and credit cards. The bank also provides motor loans through its Star Vehicle Loan scheme.
