The BSE BSE Information Technology index ended at 42,654.18 levels, down 987 points, or 2.26%. The biggest contributors to the index's fall were Infosys, TCS, HCLTech, Tech Mahindra, and Wipro.
The benchmark S&P BSE SENSEX ended at 79,043.74, down 1190.34 points, or 1.48%, while the broader NIFTY50 index settled at 23,953 levels, down 322 points, or 1.33%.
46 out of 50 stocks on the NIFTY50 index ended in the red and the other four in the green.
The BSE MidCap index ended at 45,929.80, down 28 points, or 0.06%, while the BSE SmallCap index settled at 54,782.58, up 221.65 points, or 0.41%.
For the second consecutive day, all Adani Group shares traded in positive territory on Thursday. The Adani Green Energy stock hit the 10% upper circuit, while Adani Power shares were up 6.49%.
HUDCO shares, on the other hand, jumped up to 9% to ₹240.50 on the BSE.
Out of 4,049 stocks traded on the BSE, 2,207 scrips advanced,1,733 declined, while 109 stocks remained unchanged.
As many as 203 stocks hit their 52-week high while 23 stocks touched their 52-week low.
Further, 357 stocks on the BSE touched their upper circuits, and 217 hit their lower circuit limits.
