Bajaj Finance Limited is a leading non-banking financial company (NBFC) with a customer base of more than 7.6 crore. The Pune-headquartered company caters to a diverse group of customers in both retail and enterprise segments. The company offers various financial solutions including loans, overdrafts, credit cards and insurance services. The NBFC is primarily engaged in lending and acceptance of deposits. Its lending portfolio caters to retail, SME and commercial customers.
Bajaj Finance primarily focuses on retail financing, offering loans for various needs like two-wheelers, cars and consumer durables. The company offers insurance products and other savings instruments. The Bajaj Group NBFC has also diversified into IPO financing for high-net-worth clients and housing finance. The company offers loans for building residential and commercial properties for both individuals and developers.
The company was initially incorporated as Bajaj Auto Finance Ltd in March 1987 as an NBFC to cater to two and three-wheeler financing. In 1988, it was registered as a public limited company. Bajaj Auto Finance launched its initial public offering (IPO) in 1994. Shares of the company were listed on NSE and BSE.
After the demerger of Bajaj Auto Ltd the shareholding of the company was vested with Bajaj Finserv Limited. Bajaj Auto Finance was renamed as Bajaj Finance Limited in 2010 and subsequently diversified into retail loans, SME lending, commercial loans and wealth management.
Bajaj Finserv Limited, the parent company, owns 52.49% stake in Bajaj Finance Ltd (as on September 30, 3023). Other significant investors comprise Maharashtra Scooters Limited, the Monetary Authority of Singapore, Nomura Securities, BNP Paribas, Smallcap World Fund INC and AXIS Long Term Equity Fund.

The company offers services through its omnichannel presence which includes geographic expansion, Bajaj Finserv app, Bajaj Finserv website and Customer data platform (CDP). The company’s subsidiaries include Bajaj Housing Finance Limited (BHFL) and Bajaj Financial Securities Ltd.
Bajaj Housing Finance Limited holds the highest credit ratings from CRISIL and India Ratings. It's rated AAA/Stable for its long-term debt program and A1+ for its short-term debt instrument by both CRISIL and India Ratings.
In the insurance segment, Bajaj Finance Ltd offers both general and life insurance products.
