Top gainers and losers on April 22: ITC, Hindustan Unilever, HDFC Bank rise over 1.7%; check full list

The Indian equity benchmarks rose for sixth straight session on Tuesday, April 22, to hit their highest levels in over five months, data from stock exchanges showed. The SENSEX rose as much as 416 points in intraday deals and NIFTY50 index touched an intraday high of 24,242.60 led by gains in index heavyweights like HDFC Bank, ITC, Mahindra & Mahindra and Hindustan Unilever. The SENSEX ended 187 points higher at 79,595.59 and NIFTy50 index advanced 42 points to close at 24,167.25.

NIFTY50 top gainers and losers

As many as 31 shares in the NIFTY50 index ended lower while 19 stocks managed to end higher. ITC was top gainer in the NIFTY50 basket of shares, the stock rose 2.36% to close at ₹432.85. Hindustan Unilever (2.21%), HDFC Bank (1.71%), Jio Financial Services (1.71%) and Mahindra & Mahindra (1.70%) were also among the gainers.

On the flipside, IndusInd Bank was top loser in the NIFTY50 index, the stock declined 4.79% to close at ₹788.55 after report suggested that the bank has roped in EY to probe ₹600 crore discrepancy in its microfinance portfolio.

Power Grid (-2.11%), Hero MotoCorp (-2.02%), Infosys (-1.93%) and Wipro (-1.87%) were also among the laggards.

NIFTY Midcap 100 gainers and losers

NIFTY Midcap 100 index advanced 0.78% or 423 points to close at 54,397.15. As many 61 shares ended higher while 39 closed lower in the NIFTY Midcap 100 index. Waaree Energies was top gainer in the NIFTY Midcap 100 index, the stock rose 8.22% to close at ₹2,645 after US finalised anti-dumping duties on solar cells and panels from four South Asian countries: Cambodia, Malaysia, Thailand, and Vietnam.

The decision comes after the US-based solar manufacturers had accused these countries of flooding the market with cheap solar equipment and had sought an investigation, citing 'unfair practices'.

Motilal Oswal (6.42%), Dixon Technologies (5.34%), Max Healthcare (5.27%) and Phoenix Mills (4.89%) were also among the gainers.

On the other hand, Nykaa was top loser in the NIFTY Midcap 100 index. The stock fell 2.21% to close at ₹187.90. Suzlon (-1.82%), Hindustan Zinc (-1.71%), NALCO (-1.54%) and Indus Towers (-1.51%).

NIFTY Smallcap 100 gainers and losers

NIFTY Smallcap 100 index advanced 0.73% or 123 points to close at 16,896. As many as 58 shares ended higher while 42 closed lower. Data Patterns was top gainer in the NIFTY Smallcap 100 index. The stock rose 7.71% to close at ₹2,110. Kfin Technologies (7.01%), Trident (6.82%), IIFL (5.37%) and ITI (5%) were also among the gainers.

On the contrary, RK Forgings (-3.68%), Cyient (-2.88%), (-2.66%), Redington India (-2.05%) and Credit Access Grameen (-2.05%) were also among losers.
