The shares held by the promoters represent not only ownership but also management commitment, which in the market parlance is known as ‘Skin in the Game’. High promoter holdings are often regarded as a positive perspective on the company's future. On the other hand, low promoter shareholding tends to elicit scepticism.
Sometimes in bearish markets, the stock may not be valued by the market at fair terms, in such cases, promoters tend to increase their stake in a company by purchasing shares as they are aware of the potential of the company.
In Q2FY25, promoter holdings increased more than 1% in five stocks from the Nifty 500 index, with market capitalisations above ₹10,000 crore.
The promoter increased their stake by 7% to 66.07% in Q2FY25 from 59.07% as per the quarter ended June 2024. In the past year, the stock has climbed by 39.49%. The company's consolidated revenue for Q2FY25 increased 20.93% from ₹2,063.50 crore in the same quarter last year to ₹2,495.46 crore.
Adani Green Energy is a holding company of several subsidiaries carrying renewable power generation business within the group. It is primarily involved in renewable power generation and other ancillary activities.
In Q2FY25, the company's revenue stood at ₹3,055 crore, showing a YoY growth of 37.61% compared to ₹2,220 crore in September 2023. On a QoQ basis, revenue also grew by 7.76% from ₹2,835 crore in June 2024.
However, net profit for Q2 declined to ₹276 crore, down 25.81% YoY from ₹372 crore in September 2023 and 38.12% QoQ from ₹446 crore in June 2024. Consequently, the net profit margin decreased to 9.03% in Q2, compared to 16.76 per cent a year earlier and 15.73 per cent in the previous quarter.
In Q1FY25, the company reported revenue of ₹5,535.48 crore in June 2024, up from ₹4,375.74 crore in June 2023, marking a YoY growth of 26.50% and a QoQ growth of 22.06% from ₹4,534.93 crore in March 2024. Net profit stood at ₹177.77 crore for June 2024, reflecting a 23.55% increase YoY from ₹143.89 crore in June 2023 and a 29.19% increase QoQ from ₹137.60 crore in March 2024. The company is to announce its Q2FY25 results on November 13, 2024.
For Q2FY25, revenue stood at ₹13,338.88 crore, showing a 2.68% growth YoY but a 10.81% decline compared to the previous quarter. Consolidated net profit was ₹3,331.80 crore, reflecting a 49.47% decrease YoY and a 14.85% decline from last quarter. The net profit margin for Q2FY25 was 24.98%, down from 50.76% in Q2FY24.
In Q2FY25, the company’s revenue reached ₹7,465.30 crore, showing a YoY growth of 4.67% from ₹7,132.50 crore in Q2FY24 and QoQ growth of 1.11% from ₹7,383.00 crore in Q1FY25. Net profit for Q2FY25 was ₹2,223.50 crore, with YoY growth of 71.74% from ₹1,294.70 crore in Q2FY24 and a QoQ increase of 15.45% from ₹1,925.90 crore in Q1FY25.
The net profit margin also improved to 29.78% in Q2FY25, compared to 18.15% in Q2FY24 and 26.09% in Q1FY25.
