Stock market today: Dalal Street witnessed a good session on Thursday, December 5, as buying was witnessed in almost all the sectors.

With today's gain, the market ended higher for the fifth straight session.

Top gainers & losers on the NIFTY50 index

41 out of 50 stocks settled in the green and the remaining nine in the red. The top five gainers were Trent Ltd, Infosys, TCS, Titan Company, and Dr. Reddy's. 
The top five losers were SBI Life, HDFC Life, Bajaj Auto, NTPC, and Grasim Industries. 

Buzzing Stocks

Swiggy, Zomato: Shares of both online food aggregators hit their respective record-high levels on Thursday, December 5. 

Zomato shares rallied as much as 6.35% to hit a record high of ₹304.50 apiece on the BSE, while Swiggy shares jumped up to 11.35% to hit an all-time level of ₹576.95 per share on the BSE. 

BSE: Shares of the company hit a record high of ₹ 5,250 apiece on the NSE. The Stock ended at ₹5,227.75, up 14.34%. 
Reliance Power: Shares of Reliance Power hit the 5% upper circuit for the second day in a row on Thursday, December 5. The stock was trading at 43.14 apiece, up 5%, its upper circuit limit, on the National Stock Exchange (NSE). On the BSE, it was up 5% to 43.12 per share.
The surge comes after the Solar Energy Corporation of India (SECI), a key state-run player in the renewable energy sector, withdrew Reliance Power's debarment notice to allow the Anil Ambani-led company to participate in forthcoming tenders of the public sector entity. READ MORE

Market Statistics

Out of 4,083 stocks traded on the BSE, 2,130 advanced, and 1,841 declined, while 112 scrips remained unchanged.

As many as 237 stocks hit their 52-week high levels while 11 scrips touched their 52-week lows. 

Meanwhile, 407 stocks hit their upper circuit limits, and 199 touched their lower circuit limits. 

Broader Market

The BSE SmallCap index was trading at 56,707.78 levels, up 90 points, or 0.16%, while the BSE MidCap index ended at 47,500.51, up 128 points, or 0.27%.

Sector Watch

Technology stocks were the biggest gainers today, followed by telecom stocks. 

Barring realty stocks, all sectoral indices ended in the green. 

The BSE Information Technology index ended at 44,555.21 levels, up 1.81%.
