Nifty Metal

The Nifty Metal index captures the performance of the metal and mining sector. The index consists of 15 stocks listed on the National Stock Exchange (NSE). The stocks or constituents of the Nifty Metal index are reviewed semi-annually (every six months). One of the key criteria for joining the index is that the stock or company has to be a part of the Nifty 500 universe. This index is used for benchmarking fund portfolios related to the metal and mining industry. It is also used to create index funds, exchange traded funds (ETFs) and structured products. The top five constituents of the Nifty Metal index are Tata Steel, Hindalco Industries, Adani Enterprises, JSW Steel and Vedanta. Meanwhile, the Nifty Metal index has delivered a return of around 12% on a CAGR basis since its inception in July 2011.
