IPL 2025 auction countdown: Players from across the globe await their fate as franchises battle for top talents in Jeddah.

It will be a Super Sunday for Indian cricket fans as they await a crucial third day of the Perth Test of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy and the mega auction of the Indian Premier League (IPL).

The two-day auction will see 574 players vying for 204 slots across 10 IPL teams: Chennai Super Kings (CSK), Mumbai Indians (MI), Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR), Rajasthan Royals (RR), Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH), Gujarat Titans (GT), Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB), Delhi Capitals (DC), Punjab Kings (PBKS), and Lucknow Super Giants (LSG).

Of these players, 366 are Indian, and 208 are overseas, including three from associate nations. A total of 318 Indian uncapped players and 12 uncapped overseas players are also part of the auction pool.

The highest reserve price is set at ₹2 crore, with 81 players opting for this elite bracket. Each franchise can fill a maximum of 25 squad slots, and with ₹120 crore as the salary cap, the competition to build the strongest team will be intense.

How big is the purse of each franchise in the 2025 IPL auction?

This year's purse is bigger than ever for the IPL teams, who can spend a maximum amount of ₹120 crore to build their squad. With Punjab Kings entering the auction with only two retentions, that too of uncapped players, the franchise will start the bidding war with a whopping ₹110.5 crore in its purse. RCB, with 83 crore in its purse, is another franchise which can dictate the auction narrative at Jeddah.

Right to Match

Teams had the option to retain or use RTM cards for up to six players. KKR and RR have exhausted their RTMs, while PBKS has the most (4 RTMs). RCB has three RTM cards, Delhi Capitals has two, and CSK, GT, LSG, MI, and SRH have one each.

When is the IPL 2025 mega auction?

The two-day auction will be held in Jeddah from 12:30 pm local time on Sunday, November 24, 2024. Viewers in India can watch the live broadcast of the bidding war from 3:00 pm IST. Jio Cinema will stream the mega auction for digital platform while Star Sports will broadcast the extravaganza on television.
