Benchmark equity indices SENSEX and NIFTY settled in the red on Friday, dragged down by bank and IT stocks ahead of earnings season starting next week. Despite a positive beginning, SENSEX went lower by 720.60 points to settle at 79,223.11. NIFTY dipped 0.76% to 24,004.

Wipro, HDFC Bank, Adani Ports, Tech Mahindra, and Cipla were the major laggards in the NIFTY50 pack.

Cupid shares were trading 6% higher at ₹80.23 apiece on the NSE as the firm has received a purchase order from the Medical Stores Department (MSD), Government of Tanzania, for the supply of male condoms worth around ₹14.91 crore.

Shares of Wockhardt rose 9.43% to ₹1,582.95 apiece on the NSE on Friday as the Central Drugs Standard Control Organization (CDSCO) approved the pharma company's new-generation oral antibiotic Miqnaf as a treatment for community-acquired bacterial pneumonia in adults.

DMart-operator Avenue Supermarts shares surged over 15% on Friday after the firm posted 17.5% increase in standalone revenue for the third quarter ended December 31, 2024.
