Stock market today: The S&P BSE SENSEX ended at 77,414.92, down 191.51 points, or 0.25%, while the NSE's NIFTY50 index settled at 23,519.35, down 72.60 points, or 0.31%.

The S&P BSE SENSEX ended at 77,414.92, down 191.51 points, or 0.25%, while the NSE's NIFTY50 index settled at 23,519.35, down 72.60 points, or 0.31%.
The stock market will remain closed on Monday, March 31, on account of Eid al-Fitr.
During the 2024-25 financial year, the SENSEX jumped 3,763.57 points, or 5.10%, and the NIFTY50 climbed 1,192.45 points, or 5.34%.
After falling for five consecutive months, the benchmark indices rallied in March, thanks to heavy buying in financials.
With the RBI's interest rate cuts looming, credit growth surging, and foreign inflows returning, financials once again have become the Street's darlings. The NIFTY BANK index has gained 6.66% in the past one month, while the NIFTY PSU Bank index has also rallied 6%. The NIFTY PRIVATE BANK index has risen 6.23% during the period.
As many as 2,976 stocks traded on the NSE on Friday. Out of this, 1,807 declined, and 1,099 advanced, while 70 stocks remained unchanged.
A total of 36 stocks hit their 52-week high, while 312 stocks touched their 52-week lows.
Besides, 98 stocks hit their upper circuits, and 132 touched their lower circuits.
In the broader market, midcap stocks underperformed the headline indices.
The BSE MidCap index ended at 41,531.12, down 285.91 points, or 0.68%, while the BSE SmallCap index ended at 46,638.13, down 165.52 points, or 0.35%.
Barring FMCG, banking, and oil & gas, all other indices ended in the red. The biggest losers were IT stocks, followed by realty. The BSE Information Technology index ended at 36,122.71, down 650.65 points, or 1.77%.
In Asian markets, Seoul, Tokyo, Shanghai and Hong Kong settled with deep cuts. European markets were quoting in the negative territory. US markets ended lower on Thursday.
