Zydus Lifesciences on Friday said its consolidated net profit increased 31% year on year to ₹1,420 crore in the first quarter ended June 2024 on the back of robust sales.

The drug maker had reported a net profit of ₹1,087 crore in the April-June quarter of last fiscal.

Benchmark indices closed higher on Friday, with NIFTY50 up 1% and SENSEX gaining 820 points. In the NIFTY50 space, 45 stocks advanced. Eicher Motors, Mahindra & Mahindra and Shriram Finance were among the top gainers.

IRB Infrastructures Developers Ltd on Friday posted around 5% rise in consolidated profit after tax to ₹140 crore during June quarter on account of higher income.

It had reported a profit after tax (PAT) of ₹134 crore in the April-June quarter of preceding 2023-24 financial year, the company said in an exchange filing.

Industrial wire maker Paramount Cables on Friday posted a 74% rise in its consolidated profit after tax to ₹25.3 crore during the June quarter, on account of higher revenues.

It had reported ₹14.5 crore Profit After Tax (PAT) in the April-June period of the preceding 2023-24 fiscal, the company said in a statement.

State-owned firm NBCC has bagged a ₹15,000 crore project to develop a 406-acre satellite township in Srinagar.

In a regulatory filing on Friday, the company informed that it has bagged this project from Srinagar Development Authority.

The stock climbed 3% to ₹1,160 apiece on the NSE.

Rupee appreciated 8 paise to 83.89 against US dollar in early trade on Friday, supported by a positive trend in domestic equities and a decline in the US dollar index.

Forex traders said post the Reserve Bank of India's monetary policy announcement, markets now await for US CPI data, India CPI, WPI and IIP data and India's trade data all scheduled to be released next week.

The GIFT NIFTY is up over 1%, signalling a likely gap-up opening for the NIFTY50 index today. Other Asian markets are also performing well, with Japan's Nikkei 225 rising 1.4% and Hong Kong's Hang Seng Index gaining 1.3%.
