On the NIFTY50 index, 38 stocks were trading in the green and the remaining 11 in the red.
Bajaj Auto on Tuesday said its consolidated net profit increased by 8% to ₹2,196 crore for the third quarter ended December 31, 2024, on the back of robust exports.
The company had reported a net profit of ₹2,033 crore in the October-December quarter of last fiscal.
Total revenue from operations was at ₹13,169 crore for the third quarter compared with ₹12,165 crore in the year-ago period.
Suzlon Energy on Tuesday posted a 91% jump in consolidated net profit at ₹388 crore for the December quarter on the back of higher revenues.
The company had a net profit of ₹203 crore in the quarter ended December 31, 2023, a company statement said.
According to the statement, net revenue rose to ₹2,969 crore from ₹1,553 crore in the same period a year ago.
Foreign institutional investors (FIIs) offloaded equities worth ₹4,920.69 crore on Tuesday, according to exchange data.
The BSE MidCap index was trading at 42,088.72, up 770.06 points, or 1.86%, while the BSE SmallCap index was ruling at 48,573.95, up 1,081.47 points, or 2.28%.
Barring the FMCG index, all sectoral indices were trading in the green on the BSE.
On the other hand, industrials were the biggest gainers, followed by capital goods, consumer durables, and discretionary counters.
The BSE Industrials index was trading at 13,272.71, up 341.35 points, or 2.64%.
