SENSEX, NIFTY subdued at open; Cyient jumps over 3%, PNB Housing surges 5%

PNB Housing Finance shares were trading over 5.56% higher at ₹855.65 on the BSE.

The domestic benchmark indices, SENSEX and NIFTY, were little changed at the opening bell on Wednesday, August 21. At 09:16 AM, the SENSEX was trading at 80,727.04 levels, down 76 points, or 0.09%, while the NSE NIFTY50 was trading at 24,705, up 6 points.

Bajaj Finserv (up nearly 1%) was the biggest gainer on SENSEX, followed by Tata Motors and Bharti Airtel. On the other hand, UltraTech Cement (down nearly 1%) was the biggest loser.

Stocks in news

Cyient shares were trading over 3% higher at ₹1,999 on the BSE, while Cyient DLM was flat at ₹787. The stocks are in focus as Cyient said on August 20 that its board has approved the sale of a 14.5% stake in subsidiary Cyient DLM through a block deal. The floor price is likely to be set at ₹748.65 per share, a 5% discount to its closing price on the NSE. READ MORE
PNB Housing Finance shares were trading over 5.56% higher at ₹855.65 on the BSE after as many as 1.39 crore shares, or 5% equity, of the company changed hands in a block deal window. As per news reports, General Atlantic Singapore Fund FII Pte Ltd was to offload a 5.1% stake in PNB Housing Finance Ltd.

In the broader market, the BSE MidCap index was trading 0.14% higher at 48,180.52 levels, while the BSE SmallCap index was up 0.58% at 55,173.57.

SECTOR WATCH

Industrial stocks were the top gainers in the opening session. The BSE Industrials were up 0.45% at 15,859.10. Other gainers were the telecom, FMCG, and capital goods sectors.
