Vishal Mega Mart vs Mobikwik vs Sai Life Sciences: Listing gains for investors as shares make strong debut

Primary market investors rejoiced as shares of One MobiKwik Systems Ltd, Vishal Mega Mart Ltd and Sai Life Sciences Ltd made a stellar trading debut on Wednesday, December 18.

Successful bidders who were allotted shares in these three mainboard IPOs, which were open for subscription during December 11-December 13, made windfall gains as soon as the shares started trading on the stock exchanges.

Here’s a look at how much money retail and high-net-worth investors made from the MobiKwik, Vishal Mega Mart, and Sai Life Sciences IPOs:

One MobiKwik Systems IPO

Shares of One MobiKwik Systems listed at almost a 58% premium on Wednesday. The shares opened at ₹440 apiece on the NSE compared to the IPO price of ₹279.

The lot size, or the minimum bid quantity, to apply for the MobiKwik IPO was 53 shares. This means that retail investors who were allotted shares were sitting on listing gains of ₹8,533 (₹161 x 53) per lot.

The minimum lot size investment for small non-institutional investors (NIIs) was 14 lots, which earned them listing gains of ₹1,19,462 (₹8,533 x 14). Meanwhile, for big NIIs for whom the minimum investment was 68 lots, the notional profit was ₹5,80,244 (₹8,533 x 68).

The stock settled 20% higher at ₹528 per share, its upper circuit limit.

MobiKwik raised ₹572 crore from the IPO. The company had said that it would use the net proceeds from the issue towards funding growth in the financial and payment services businesses, for investment in data, machine learning, artificial intelligence, product and technology, to fund capital expenditure for the payment devices business, and for general corporate purposes.

Vishal Mega Mart IPO

Shares of Vishal Mega Mart Ltd were listed at an over 33% premium on Wednesday. The stock opened at ₹104 against the IPO price of ₹78 per share.

The lot size for an application was 190. This translates into a profit of ₹4,940 per lot for retail investors. Small NIIs, who had to bid for a minimum of 14 lots, made ₹69,160 (₹4,940 x 14). Meanwhile, big NIIs who had to bid for a minimum of 68 lots were sitting on listing gains of ₹3,35,920 (₹4,940 x 68).

Vishal Mega Mart shares ended 7.58% higher at ₹111.88 apiece on the NSE.

Vishal Mega Mart, which raised ₹8,000 crore through the IPO, will not receive any proceeds as the issue was an offer-for-sale (OFS) by the promoter selling shareholder.

Sai Life Sciences IPO

Shares of Sai Life Sciences opened at an over 18% premium on Wednesday. The share price opened at ₹650 apiece on the NSE, up 18.4% from the IPO price of ₹549.

The lot size, or the minimum bid quantity, to apply for the Sai Life Sciences IPO was 27 shares. This means that retail investors were sitting on listing gains of ₹2,727 (₹101 x 27) per lot.

The minimum lot size investment for small NIIs was 14 lots, which translates into listing gains of ₹38,178 (₹2,727 x 14). Meanwhile, big NIIs for whom the minimum investment was 68 lots were sitting on listing gains of ₹1,85,436 (₹2,727 x 68).

Shares of Sai Life Sciences closed 18.15% higher at ₹768 a unit on the NSE.

Sai Life Sciences raised ₹3,042.62 crore from the IPO, which was a combination of fresh issuance of 1.73 crore shares (aggregating to ₹950 crore) and an OFS of 3.81 crore shares (aggregating to ₹2,092.62 crore). The net proceeds from the fresh issuance would be used for repayment/prepayment of all or certain outstanding borrowings availed by the company and for general corporate purposes.
