PM Kisan 20th installment date 2025: When will it be released?

PM Kisan scheme's 20th instalment, which would be the second instalment for the year 2025, could be released in June. The third tranche of the scheme for 2025 is expected in October. However, the exact dates will be finalised by the government and announced later.

For a better understanding of these details, let’s take a quick look at what exactly is the PM-KISAN scheme.

What is the PM-KISAN scheme?

The PM-KISAN scheme is a central government scheme launched in February 2019 to supplement the financial needs of land-holding farmers.

Under the scheme, a financial benefit of ₹6,000 per year is transferred in three equal instalments into the bank accounts of farmers through DBT mode. This prevents any involvement and misappropriation of funds by middlemen.

The scheme aims to provide farmers with financial assistance to procure various inputs to ensure proper crop health and appropriate yields. It also protects farmers from falling in the clutches of moneylenders for meeting such expenses.

Before the release of the latest instalment, the government of India had disbursed over ₹3.46 lakh crore in 18 instalments.

How can farmers claim benefits under the PM-KISAN scheme?

Farmers first need to enrol themselves for the PM-KISAN scheme. Farmers can either enrol online by visiting the PM-KISAN portal or through the offline mode by visiting their nearest Common Service Centre (CSC) or approaching the state government’s nodal officers.

The mandatory information required for enrolment includes details like name, date of birth, bank account number, IFSC/ MICR Code of the bank in which the account is held, mobile number, and Aadhaar Number.

Once the enrolment is done, e-KYC (electronic-know your customer) is mandatory for all PM Kisan-registered farmers. OTP-based e-KYC is available on the PM KISAN Portal, or the nearest CSC centre may be contacted for biometric-based e-KYC.

The PM-KISAN mobile app also enables e-KYC with the “Face Authentication Feature.” This feature enables remote farmers to do e-KYC by scanning their faces without OTP or fingerprints.

How to check beneficiary status?

Once the enrolment and e-KYC has been done, farmers can check their beneficiary status by following the steps given below:

  • Visit the official PM-KISAN portal at https://pmkisan.gov.in/
  • Click on ‘Know Your Status’ link.
  • Enter your registration number. If you do not know your registration number, you can find it out on the portal itself using your Aadhaar details or mobile number.
  • Enter the captcha code and get OTP on your registered mobile number.
  • You can then see the payment status for the PM-KISAN instalments.

The PM-KISAN beneficiaries should monitor the government's announcements regarding the release date of the 20th instalment.
