Leading quick commerce company Swiggy has ventured into the rapid food delivery space by launching its standalone app called Snacc, which offers snacks and beverages to be delivered within 15 minutes.

With Blinkit’s recently launched Bistro and the Zepto cafe already in the market, Swiggy’s move is expected to heighten the competition in this segment. Many other small players have also entered the rapid food delivery business, giving more options to the Indian consumer base.

Snacc went live on January 7 and is currently operational in a few areas in Bengaluru.

Swiggy aims to expand the service to more parts of the country, Moneycontrol reported citing people aware of the matter.

The launch of Swiggy’s standalone app comes soon after the success of its rapid food delivery vertical ‘Bolt’ which was introduced in October on the Swiggy mobile application. Bolt was focused on listing restaurants that could deliver food items in 15 minutes, while Snacc has an offering of several different products delivered from a centralised location. This is similar to Zepto Cafe’s offering of its own food products. Swiggy’s Snacc has also partnered with brands like Blue Tokai and The Whole Truth for some of its food categories.

Zomato also recently rolled out its 15-minute delivery service. The new feature on the Zomato application works like Swiggy’s Bolt with a set of restaurants offering food to be delivered within 15 minutes, mainly the ready-to-eat and other dishes that can be prepared quickly. The feature is already live in major cities like Mumbai and Bangalore.

Zepto launched a standalone mobile application for its Zepto Cafe to focus on its quick food delivery service.

Ola is also expanding its services to offer a 10-minute food delivery service, Ola Dash. Launched first in Bengaluru, Ola will now expand the service into other major cities across the country. The quick commerce sector in India is rapidly expanding with many companies following the ‘we must also launch this’ trend, the Moneycontrol report stated.
