Budget carrier Indigo on Saturday, July 13, issued a fresh advisory for air travellers after heavy rain lashed the city for a second day in a row.
In view of the incessant rainfall, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) issued an orange alert for Mumbai and adjoining regions including Thane, Palghar and Navi Mumbai.
"Ongoing heavy rains and air traffic congestion in Mumbai continue to impact flights," it said, adding, "For any immediate assistance, feel free to reach out to our on-ground team." The airline also shared a link that allows travellers to track their flight status.
In the 24-hour period ending at 8 am on Saturday, Mumbai city received 61.69 mm of rainfall, eastern suburbs received 64.92 mm of rain, and western suburbs 51.74 mm.
On Friday, public transport services and traffic in Mumbai were slowed due to severe spells of rainfall. Local train passengers had complained of train delays.
Vehicular congestion had peaked during the morning and evening hours, with waterlogging in low-lying areas like Sion prompting the authorities to divert road traffic. In the Western suburbs, waterlogging was reported at the arterial subway between Andheri and Jogeshwari stations.
