Torrent Group was founded in 1959 by UN Mehta as a small pharmaceutical company. It was initially named as Trinity Laboratories and later became Torrent Pharmaceuticals, which is now one of India’s leading pharma companies. The group has now expanded its operations into more than 50 countries including the United States, Europe, Brazil and Russia Over the years the company expanded into other industries and became a well-known diversified conglomerate. Under the leadership of Sudhir Mehta and Samir Mehta the group entered the power sector by acquiring power plants and distribution networks.
