On Saturday, 18 May 2024, NSE & BSE will host a special LIVE trading session in the Equity and Derivative (F&O) segments.
Why is this session happening?This session is happening because SEBI wants to ensure that market intermediaries such as Exchanges, Clearing Houses, and Depository Organisations can smoothly switch to a backup plan - the Disaster Recovery (DR) site in case of an unexpected disaster. It aims to ensure that trading activities continue without interruptions and that all data remains secure.
*Pre-open for Session 1 - 9:00 AM to 9:08 AM
*Pre-open for Session 2 - 11:15 AM to 11:23 AM
Closing Session - 12:40 PM to 12:50 PM
Keep in mind:
- - Any open orders not executed by the end of the first session will be cancelled and won’t be carried forward to the next session
Circuit Limits
- - All Securities including F&O Stocks will have circuit limits set at 5%
- - Stocks currently having a 2% limit will maintain that limit
- - All Futures contracts will operate within a 5% range
- - Price bands of 5% will be applicable on all close-ended Mutual Funds
Trading Restrictions
- - Only Delivery trades will be allowed; no Intraday Trading
- - No new positions positions can be taken via Margin Trading Facility (MTF), you can only square-off existing trades
- - Margin pledge (pledging and unpledging) will be unavailable
Settlement of Funds and Trades Due to 18 May being a settlement holiday and 20 May being a trading holiday:
- - Credits from the F&O segment, intraday profits, and proceeds from sell transactions on 17 May will not be available for trading; they will be settled on 21 May 2024
- - Stocks bought on 17 May 2024 will not be available for selling on 18 May 2024, but will be visible in your holdings
- - SIP (Systematic Investment Plan) orders on Upstox scheduled for 18 May will be postponed and processed on the next trading day, 21 May
- - Standard Fund Withdrawal requests placed after 8 AM on 17 May will be processed on 21 May Charges
- - Brokerage charges will be applicable as usual during this special session.
