Udyog Aadhaar: What is it?

Udyog Aadhaar is a 12-digit UIN provided to the registered small businesses in India. It was launched in September 2015 and is offered by the Ministry of Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises of the Government of India.
Considering the huge contribution of the SME sector to the Indian economy, the government launched this facility to boost small-scale businesses. However, according to recent updates, MSMEs can receive the benefits like subsidies, loan approvals, etc., by applying for Udyam Registration.
Small-scale business owners had to complete multiple paper works to register their businesses before this facility. To simplify the process of SSI or MSME registration, the Government of India came up with Udyog Aadhaar registration.
From June 30, 2022, Udyog Aadhaar Registration has migrated to Udyam Registration. So, as an entrepreneur, you can obtain the MSME benefits by re-registering your business under Udyam Portal.
