Tata Motors announces big EV push

  • By 2025, auto major Tata Motors plans to launch ten new electric vehicles (EVs) across its commercial and passenger vehicle segments in India. Not only that, it also plans to manufacture lithium cells in India and Europe to facilitate its EV supply chain. 
  • Meanwhile, the street expects that higher fuel prices and the subsidy push from the government could expedite EV adoption over the next 2-3 years. Meanwhile, shares of Tata Motors were up 1% yesterday and have risen 7.5% so far this month.  

SpiceJet plans to raise money

  • Low-cost carrier SpiceJet’s shares were up 2% yesterday after it announced that it plans to raise fresh capital. The proposal for raising money will be discussed at the board meeting on Wednesday. 
  • This comes at the time when Spicejet and its competitors are facing turbulent times due the pandemic. Earlier last week, Indigo had received approval from its shareholders to raise ₹3,000 crore. On the other hand, market regulator SEBI has temporarily halted the IPO of GoAir due to pending inquiries against the promoters.    

NLC India posts strong Q4

  • The state-owned mining and power company reported a 52% year-on-year jump in its consolidated net profit to ₹756 crore in Q4. Profits were boosted mainly by a rise in other income.
  • In its regulatory filing, the company claimed that its green power generation rose 38% in FY21. Shares of the company rose around 1% yesterday. The results were announced post market hours.
