At the close, SENSEX was 609.86 points (0.83%) up at 74,340.09, while NIFTY50 ended 0.93% (207.40 points) higher at 22,544.70.

Shares of auto major Mahindra & Mahindra (M&M) are trading marginally higher at ₹2,741.20 apiece on the NSE on March 6. The company's market capitalisation stands at ₹3,40,876.12 crore.

At 2:25 pm, SENSEX is trading 491.6 points up at 74,221.86, while NIFTY50 is 0.7% up at 22,510.05. Over 43 stocks on NIFTY are in the green territory.

Shares of Zydus Lifesciences jumped by as much as 7% on Thursday during the intraday trade as the pharma company launched a new drug. The company also received approval from the US FDA to manufacture generic leukaemia tablets, a major achievement for the pharma major.

Zydus Lifesciences stock is currently trading 2.6% up at ₹910.60 apiece on the NSE.

Shares of Hindustan Zinc are trading 3.8% up at ₹426.95 on the NSE on Thursday. The stock surged as the company board is scheduled to meet on March 10 to consider fundraising via non-convertible debentures (NCD) on a private placement basis.

“…we hereby inform you that a meeting of the committee of directors of the company (‘Committee”) is scheduled to be held on Monday, March 10, 2025, inter alia, to consider and evaluate proposals for raising funds through the issue of listed non-convertible debentures on a private placement basis, subject to market conditions,” the company said in a statement to the stock exchanges.

Shares of animal protein company Mukka Proteins jumped by nearly 10% on Thursday, March 6 after the company bagged orders worth ₹44.28 crore. The scrip of Mukka Proteins is currently trading 5.8% up at ₹34.97 apiece on the NSE.

Manappuram Finance Limited shares are banned from trading in the futures and options (F&O) segment as it crossed 95% of the market-wide position limit (MWPL). The NSE put the scrip on the F&O ban list for March 6.

"The derivative contracts in the below-mentioned security have crossed 95% of the market-wide position limit and are currently in the ban period," the NSE said, adding, "It is hereby informed that all clients/members shall trade in the derivative contracts of said security only to decrease their positions through offsetting positions. Any increase in open positions shall attract appropriate penal and disciplinary action."

The F&O ban list is updated daily. While the stock is still available for trading in the cash market, the F&O ban will be revoked once the position shrinks below 80%

Shares of Reliance Industries are trading 1.1% higher at ₹1,188.5 per unit on the NSE. Its market capitalisation stands at ₹16,08,322.52 crore.

Shares of paint manufacturer Asian Paints Ltd were trading at ₹2,212.45 apiece, reflecting an increase of 2.23% on the NSE.

Adani Enterprises shares rose 0.23% to ₹2,251 per unit on the NSE on Thursday, March 6, after Abu Dhabi-based IHC Capital Holding sold more than 84 lakh equity shares of the company for ₹1,832 crore via open market transactions.

Benchmark indices traded in the green on Thursday. SENSEX climbed 317 points to 74,047, while NIFTY gained 0.47% to 22,444. In the NIFTY50 space, BPCL, Shriram Finance, and Tata Motors were the top gainers.
