On the NIFTY50 index, 25 stocks were trading in the green, while 24 were trading in the red, and one remained unchanged.
The cigarette maker on Thursday reported a 48.7% year-on-year (YoY) jump in net profit at ₹315.9 crore for the third quarter that ended December 31, 2024.
The company's revenue from operations surged 27.3% to ₹1,591.2 crore as against ₹1,249.6 crore in the corresponding period of the preceding fiscal.
However, the stock pared gains later.
The BSE MidCap index was trading at 40,150.32 levels, down 637.79 points, or 1.56%, while the BSE SmallCap index was trading at 46,018.66 levels, down 915.03 points, or 1.95%.

Barring FMCG pack, all sectoral indices on the BSE were trading in the red. The biggest loser was healthcare index, followed by services pack.
The BSE Healthcare index was trading at 40,051.55 levels, down 971.73 points, or 2.37%.
