Stock market today: The domestic equity market ended in the red on Monday, December 16, amid weak global cues.

Shares around the world nudged lower on Monday on soft economic numbers from China and Europe and as surging bond yields challenged equity valuations at the start of a week packed with central bank meetings and major economic data.

Further, worries over the Fed's rate trajectory, too, kept the investors on tenterhooks.

At close, the S&P BSE SENSEX stood at 81,748.57 levels, down 384.5 points, or 0.47%, while the NSE's NIFTY50 index ended at 24,668.25, down 100 points, or 0.4%.
