Out of 50 constituents of the NIFTY50 index, 27 declined, and 23 advanced.
As regards the 30-share index of the BSE, SENSEX, 14 stocks ended in the red.
The top contributors to the index's close in the green were Infosys, ICICI Bank, and State Bank of India (SBI).
This paves the way for a possible resolution of the tussle for control over the non-banking finance company (NBFC).
The stock ended at ₹288, up 3.75% on the BSE.
A deal worth ₹25 crore, this transaction could be the first time the market veteran has taken a bet on the company, added a news report.
Shares of the company ended at ₹252.10, up 18.13%.
The broader indices performed way better than the benchmarks. The BSE MidCap index ended at 47,967.15 levels, up 145 points, or 0.30%, while the BSE SmallCap index settled at 57,503.12, up 190 points, or 0.33%.
Realty and IT stocks were the top gainers on the BSE. The BSE REALTY index ended at 8,509.42 levels, up 102 points, or 1.22%.
On the other hand, telecom and utility stocks were the top losers. The BSE Telecommunication index slipped 1.18% to settle at 2,954.61.
Out of 4,093 stocks traded on the BSE, 2,019 scrips gained, and 1,945 stocks declined, while 129 shares remained unchanged.
As many as 289 stocks hit their 52-week high on the BSE, while 16 scrips touched their 52-week lows.
Further, 397 stocks hit their upper circuit limits, and 202 stocks hit their lower circuits.
