Gold prices advanced by ₹130 per 10 grams in major Indian cities in early trade on Wednesday, December 18, due to a weak dollar ahead of key US Fed policy announcement and some local demand.

The US dollar retreated ahead of the announcement of the Fed policy and positive US retail sales data, which helped gold rebound from week’s low in global markets.

Spot Gold was trading flat at $2,644 an ounce in early Asian trade after recovering from a week’s low of $2,633 an ounce in overnight trade.

In Delhi markets, 24K gold prices rose by ₹130 to ₹78,160 per 10 grams and 22K gold to ₹71,660 per 10 grams. The 24K Gold in Mumbai rose to ₹78,010 per 10 grams and 22K gold by ₹ 120 to ₹71,510 per 10 grams.

Silver prices remained flat at ₹92,400 per kg in major Indian cities in early trade on Wednesday due to weak global trends.

Weak local demand also capped the metal’s movement.

Spot Silver dropped by 0.48% to $30.39 an ounce in global markets. The metal hit a high of $30.57 an ounce and a low of $30.37 an ounce in overnight trade.
