Gold prices continued to remain above ₹84,000 per 10 grams in early trade on Tuesday, February 4, following a correction in the US dollar and the metal regaining $2,800 an ounce level in global markets.
The US currency eased by 0.3% to trade below 109 in early Asian deals as US President Donald Trump announced to delay the 25% tariff on Canada and Mexico by a month. Losses in the US dollar ignited buying in the precious metal, helping domestic prices hover above ₹84,000 per 10 grams.
Gold prices dropped by more than ₹400 per 10 grams on Monday amid trade war worries. Early reports stated that the US government would impose high tariffs on its neighbours from Tuesday.
The US dollar rebounded more than 1% to hit 109 on Monday but later fell to close at 108.99 following Trump’s decision to delay tariffs. The US dollar index was down 0.29% at 108.67.
Spot gold gained 0.2% to $2,820 an ounce in early Asian trade on Monday.

Silver prices eased by ₹100 to ₹99,400 per kilogram on Tuesday due to weak domestic demand. The white metal traded flat at ₹99,500 per kg on Monday on firm global trends.
The metal traded above $31 an ounce in global markets on Monday as the US dollar eased. However, weak demand from industrial users weighed on silver prices in local markets. Spot silver remained nearly flat at $31.61 an ounce in early Asian Trade.

Investors are now awaiting US labour data and Fed officials’ speeches for further direction. Silver prices have traded in a tight range this week amid mixed cues.
