Veteran industrialist Ratan Naval Tata passed away at a Mumbai hospital late Wednesday night at the age of 86. The chairman emeritus of the Tata group controlled over 30 firms that operated in more than 100 nations yet lived an unpretentious life.
Mr Ratan Tata was considered a 'secular living saint' with a reputation for decency and integrity. He was known for investing in start-ups and philanthropic activities and became a beacon of inspiration for 21st-century entrepreneurs.
"The greatest pleasure I've had is trying to do something that everybody thought could not be done."

Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde said a day of mourning will be observed in the state on Thursday to pay tributes to Mr Ratan Tata.
According to a statement, "The mortal remains of Mr Ratan N Tata will be taken to the NCPA Lawns, Nariman Point, Mumbai at 10:30 am on Thursday, 10th October 2024, for members of the public to pay their last respects and homage to the departed soul."
At 4:00 pm, the mortal remains will embark on their final journey to the Prayer Hall at the Worli Crematorium.
