Online food delivery company Swiggy on Tuesday, April 15, announced the launch of its AI-driven platform Pyng, which helps people find professionals in several fields like health and wellness, astrology, event planning, etc.
Marking its entry into the growing professional services industry, Swiggy launched the platform for users to access professional freelancers across over 100 different specialisations. The platform, Pyng, launched its seller app earlier this year in January.
Swiggy is aiming to onboard more than 10,000 professionals through Pyng where users will be able to find experts in areas including health, wellness, finance, education, travel and events, and even professionals like yoga instructors, tax planners, career advisors, DJs, makeup artists, and more. The Pyng app is currently functional for users in Bengaluru.
Nandan Reddy, Co-founder and Head of Innovation at Swiggy, said, "As our lives become increasingly fast-paced, the demand for professional assistance—from tax planners and counsellors to yoga trainers—is growing across both personal and professional spheres. With Pyng, we're offering a reliable, spam-free platform where users can connect with trusted experts."
In January, Swiggy announced its plans to shift from its unified app strategy to launch three standalone apps. Pyng is a part of the three apps, and Swiggy is planning to launch a separate app for its grocery delivery platform Instamart. The third app in the lineup is Swiggy’s 15-minute food delivery app called Snacc, which is currently live in some areas of Bengaluru.
Swiggy’s major competitor Zomato also has standalone apps—Blinkit for grocery delivery and District for events and dining.
For the third quarter of the previous financial year (Q3 FY25), Swiggy posted a net loss of ₹799 crore as compared to ₹574 crore posted in the year-ago quarter and ₹625.5 crore in Q2 FY25. The company’s revenue from operations increased to ₹3,993 crore for the reporting quarter, up 30.9% from ₹3,048.6 crore reported in Q3 FY24.
Swiggy shares on Tuesday ended 0.32% up at ₹334.05 apiece on the NSE. The food delivery company's market capitalisation stands at ₹76,083 crore.
