Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday inaugurated the second edition of the Bharat Mobility Global Expo at Bharat Mandapam in New Delhi, encouraging corporates to invest in India's automotive industry.
Referring to the 12% annual growth and rising exports last year, Modi said India's automotive industry is both fantastic and future-ready.
He positioned India as a leading destination for investments in green technology, electric vehicles (EVs), hydrogen fuels, and biofuels.
"To fight global warming issues, we have to keep promoting solar power/alternative fuel. India emphasised on green future during the G20 presidency. Today, a lot of work is being done towards this aim," Modi said at the inaugural event.
"The demand for battery and storage will increase in this sector as well... This is the time for you to make big investments in this sector. I invite more and more youth for start-ups in this sector."
Highlighting infrastructure development as a key enabler for mobility, the prime minister said that over ₹11 lakh crore was allocated for infrastructure development in the last Union Budget.
"Today, India has a web of multi-lane national highways. India is going to become the world's most competitive logistic country due to the new National Logistic Policy."
In a tribute to industry stalwarts, PM Modi remembered Ratan Tata and Osamu Suzuki for their pioneering contributions to the Indian automobile sector.
"These two legends have contributed greatly to fulfilling the Indian middle class's dream in auto sector. I am sure that their legacy will continue to inspire the entire mobility sector of India," he said.
The five-day Bharat Mobility Global Expo 2025, themed “Beyond Boundaries: Co-creating Future Automotive Value Chain,” is being held across three venues — Bharat Mandapam and Yashobhoomi in New Delhi, and the India Expo Center and Mart in Greater Noida. It brings together the entire mobility ecosystem, including automobile manufacturers, component suppliers, technology firms, tyre makers, and material recyclers, under one roof.
Organisers expect over 100 new product and technology launches during the event.
International pavilions from Japan, Germany, the UK, and South Korea are key attractions.
