The Elon Musk-owned microblogging platform X, formerly known as Twitter, witnessed widespread outage in the early morning hours of Wednesday, August 28.
Globally, over 30,000 reports were registered regarding the outage on Downdetector, an outage detection website.
In India, more than 1,000 users registered complaints, mostly from metropolitan areas like Mumbai, Delhi, Kolkata, Bangalore and Chennai, as per Downdetector’s map.
A surge in outage complaints was witnessed at around 8:30 am (IST) in the morning, with the reports tapering away by 9:15 am, according to the app.
Around 70% of the complaints registered were regarding the non-functionality of the app, 27% users reported problems with the website, and 4% reported server connectivity issues.
Meanwhile, in the United States, a peak of over 36,500 complaints were reported.
